  1. Happy Birthday Tammy! Hope you have a wonderful day and eat lots of cake...it's good for you.
  2. Awesome idea! I will put on the thinking cap too and get to work on the Super Laxative contest lol. I thought it said super relatives anyone? at first.
  3. I would choose Bali in a heartbeat, but safety is somewhat of a concern as far as terrorism and fun stuff like that. The State Department has travel advisories out for most of that Indonesian area. I do not think I would let it stop me though.
  4. I took the complimentary room at Dreams for the night before. We both wanted to build up some anticipation before the ceremony and having all that alone time really made seeing eachother special. We did have a 10AM ceremony though and we were alone at the resort with no guests. The night before I sat around my room and watched some guy movies on USA network. I think it was a Chuck Norris movie if I remember correctly. Sat on the balcony and smoked a lot of cigarettes, drank a little tequila, and tried my best to go to sleep. It was really nice having the time to myself to get excited for the morning. It probably would have been difficult though if we had an afternoon or evening ceremony.
  5. Tell him that the bride and groom can't both wear dresses. No offense to any kilt wearing people out there, I just like taking the Sarcasm Highway.
  6. You got nothing to worry about. Trust me. Karen let a few details slip here and there and honestly most of the time I did not even know what she was talking about with the dress. I was completely (and very happily) surprised when I saw her. If she had said something about lacing it up I probably would have figured it was something completely different than what she was really talking about.

  8. I vote for barefoot. I did it and loved it. If not, then a pair of nice brown leather filp-flop type things would probably be best.

We want local/authentic 2. Well hidden or off the beaten path 3. Anything local or native to where we are 4. We are staying in Rincon which is on the west coast about 2 hours from San Juan. We are going on a day trip to Old San Juan while we are down there though.
  10. I would suggest taking your husband to each and every street cart or food stand selling pork products that you see. I have a feeling he would like that.

I think your photos came out excellent as well. Seems to me that the resort photographers at Dreams Tulum do a great job compared to what I have seen with other resorts.

Welcome to BDW land! The Cancun/Riviera Maya area can be very affordable and lots of fun for families, honeymooners and just about everyone. My wife Karen (Luckyk72) and I got married at Dreams Tulum and loved it. Take a look around, see what places might interest you, then ask away. Pretty much any place you choose will have a bunch of info on here. Happy planning!

  14. Every time I have been to the Riviera Maya/Cancun the forecast has rain/showers/clouds ect every single day. So far I have seen about 1 hour total of rain in all my trips. I would not worry about it at all.

  16. Search around for LisaG. I know she used the resort photographer and was happy with their work.

I can ask my TA but you all know so much I figure I would start here. As you see I'm all over the map but just exploring many options, thanks ) I found some info that there are ADO buses from Valladolid to Tulum. I cannot seem to find a schedule right now, but they do exist. ADO buses are nice charter style buses with a/c and all that jazz. Very cheap too. I would guess that the fare would be less than $10 per person one way. Let me know if you need schedules or anything once you firm up your plans. I know some people down there that can get them for me.
  18. When we had our legal ceremony we had to have Birth Certificate W/ apostille seal Divorce Decree if applicable w/ apostille seal Passport We had to send our wedding coordinator scanned copies of all of those ahead of time for translation, then bring the originals with us when we got married. Best bet is to check with the wedding coordinator. I have noticed that some of them ask for different things than others, but ultimately the wedding coordinator at the resort you are getting married at has the final say.
  19. I am not very familiar with the resort, but I know a lot of others on here are. What I do know about is weather down there.... November still runs the risk of bad weather as it is still technically hurricane season. For the most part you could expect good weather with the off chance of a hurricane blowing through. The biggest hurricane months there are Sept and Oct. For the travel agent statements........ they are both very wrong. The one who said it will be overcast every day has no idea what they are talking about. Aside from Tropical Storms cruising through (if at all) the weather is like it is most other days of the year. Sunny, warm and possibility of showers. The one who said Nov is a good time to avoid spring breakers is technically right, but still stupid. Spring breakers flood Cancun in March and early April. Any other time in any other place will be fine. Hell, you can go to the Riviera Maya during spring break and be fine. There might be more people in general because a lot of families go to coincide with school vacation, but not the rowdy spring break crowd.
  20. When we were there in July for our wedding I went inside the chapel to look around and it was definitely not airconditioned in there. It was hot hot hot. I would imagine that they can do something to get the air moving if need be for a wedding. Lisa....... I was looking at the photos from your room and noticed something. The color of the pool is almost identical to the ocean. That is so cool. It had to have been a conscious decision on their part for the color of the bottom of the pool . Most of them are like a dark blue like the older pool there, but the one outside of the room you were in is that light blue/green of the shallow parts of the ocean there. Sorry for the tangent. I just thought that it was neat.
  21. The back would be blank if you don't specify an image for it. When we did ours through VistaPrint, I created an image for the back with address lines and a line down the middle.
  22. I am a Dreams Tulum Groom and I absolutely refuse to help. Just kidding. Me or my wife (luckyk72) would be more than happy to help out.
  23. My advice........ Don't forget to put sunblock on. It's hotter than Hades in July.
  24. Thanks for the review. And I am glad that you had an overall good experience. Looks like you had the same judge that we did for the ceremony! We absolutely loved that guy and still talk about him.
  25. We used Vanessa Vargas for our wedding in Tulum and could not have been happier. The price was great, the photos were amazing and Vanessa was a very friendly and wonderful person.
