Hello! I am new to best destination weddings... My FI and I have been engaged since Nov. 11th 2009.  We have decided on a destination wedding for several reasons... We both LOVE the idea of travelling, however I recently added a new member to or family, our son.  (Born Dec. 17th, 2010).  Needless to say, we have began our family now and finding time to travel seems near impossible... so what better way to get married than somewhere hot, sunny, and away from the snow.

We have booked our wedding at the Breezes Trelawny in Jamaica, mainly because it was affordable for us and our friends (who are mostly students) and because it is a family resort.  we have 55 guests who have put their deposits down, and that number has been on a slow incline... So far I have my bridesmaids dresses, My wedding dress, and the groom and groomsmen attire all sorted out... I have decided against a veil, and we are still debating bare foot or not.. (any advice is appreciated)

I feel like there should be more to us planning this, but it has gone by pretty smooth... with the exception of one bridesmaid backing out, and now wanting back in (even though I have replaced her already).... There have been a few hiccups here and there, but now that its all booked and sorted out, it seems to be smooth sailing.

If anyone has any advice or helpful hints on ANYTHING involving wedding planning, id be glad to hear it!

Congrats & welcome! Wow sounds like you are doing good with planning. Congrats on finding a dress. 55 people already booked! Thats great...I have 6!! lol! I feel like the planning comes in spurts but once I have more of a head count I guess I can start with OOT bags.

This site is great for any tips, ideas & advice. The search bar comes in handy when you have something specific to look up. Let me know if I can help in any way!

Happy planning!

Welcome!  At first I felt like I had not enough planning to do and like I needed to be doing more.  We decided we wanted a simple, budget friendly wedding so we are not having centerpeices, decorations or anything like that that isnt provided at the resort.  I also don't want to use up all my suitcase room for those things!!  I think for us we felt in the beginning like there was more planning that needed to be done, but i know personally a few friends who have been married in mexico or cuba and they said most things have been done when they get to the resort, so Im really not stressing to much about it!

Congrats, and happy planning:)

Well, I am originally from Brampton, But I am now in North Bay finishing up school... I guess this is where we are settling down, as we have recently purchased a home here.

Wow! you have so much going on, house, baby wedding, school!! You must be pretty busy!!! I am originally from Mississauga.  We just moved back from Halifax, Nova Scotia and FIs job has brought him to Peterborough so that is where we are now.  FI is from Ottawa so we are sort of in the middle which is nice for visiting family.  I am slowly settling in to life in Peterborough....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
