I bought my dress without trying it on and I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share the amazing experience I had purchasing my wedding dress.

I enjoyed the convenience of shopping online to find my dream dress and I thought once I found "The One" that it would be easy to track down, try on and purchase. Things didn't work out exactly that way but somehow everything worked out for the best.

My wedding is in April 2011 so when I finally found my dream dress online I was very anxious to purchase it.  Unfortunately, no local bridal retailers carried a sample and very few even carried the designer's line.  I called the local retailer who quoted me a price that was a little more than 1/2 of my budget with alterations included (Yay Me!!! cheer2.gif), but she did not have the sample to try on and she didn't know if, and when she would be receiving the sample. After being forced to schedule several appointments to try on dresses I didn't want I eventually ended up at the boutique that could order my dream dress but the owner had misquoted and the retail price of the dress was actually $700 more than she initially quoted me.  Fortunately, she remembered our conversation and was kind and professional enough to stick to her original pricing so I bought it.

An added bonus was that I received $50 off of each of my bridesmaid's dresses for purchasing my dress their so I returned to the boutique a week and a half after purchasing my dress to order my bridesmaid's dresses. While waiting to be assisted I was AMAZED to see a brand new sample of the wedding dress I just ordered 10 days before displayed on the sales floor.  I almost passed out!!! It was even more beautiful in person and once they let me try the dress on I fell in love all over again.

Here is a picture of my dress on the model:

And for fun, Here's a picture of my bridesmaid's dress. The color will be Hot Pink:

Such beautiful gowns, Rie2010!!

When you get your gown in, please post pics of yourself in it because a real bride ALWAYS looks much more beautiful than the model, for sure!  And kudos to you for being so brave and just going with your heart to get the gown you just KNEW was right for you -- the whole situation just worked out beautifully, and I'm so excited for you!

And excellent choice on the bridemaid gowns, as well -- one shoulder strap is a huge trend right now, and so is floral, so you're on the money and your girls should be thankful you have such great taste!!  wink.gif

Oh my gosh that's so lucky for you!!

I'm in the same situation - I hope it turns out as well for me as it did for you!
I found my dream dress online and after several weeks of deliberating, I just ordered it, except I ordered mine when I was about 6 months pregnant, based on my pre-pregnancy measurements (plus one size bigger). My dress has been in for about 2 weeks now and I'm a week overdue, so I still haven't even been able to try it on! And knowing the bridal boutique is only a short walk away from my house and my dress is there is killing me!! LOL I can't wait to lose enough baby weight to be able to try it on and at least see what it looks like!! :o)

So glad it all worked for you! They're both beautiful dresses!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
