Tammy - deon't apologize - I want the truth! But I can believe it - that's my fear. Where did she buy her's from and which style was it (if you know?) I wonder if it's the same dress maker from eBay...

I feel like if I can't buy the real one I may be better off going to Natasha's dress maker and see what she can do. That way I can see all the materials and approve them ahead of time (maybe).

Seriously - I appreciate your honet opinion! Thye last thing I want to do is buy a bad dress - wait 2 months to get it and then have it arrive and hate it and then not have time to find a great dress!

While I don't know this first hand like Tammy does - this is the reason I ended up not getting the dress made. I was afraid it just wouldn't live up to the "real" dress. I personally didn't care about the label on the dress - but I did feel the quality of the fabrics were very high, and this was also a reason for the higher price (not just the label). Just something to think about ...

I called Liza the other day and she said to stop by anytime before 7pm. So I'm going to see what happens on Thursday (sample sale at ML) and then go see her and see what she thinks. The original is done with french lace and silk underneath... I don't think i need silk as long as it moves the same way and really a cheaper lace is fine as long as it's still pretty!

I hope she's familiar with the dress - I love that she can get more pictures of it too since she's a reseller!

I'll let you know what happens! And honestly if I can get a dress that is identical to the one I want (whether it says Monique Lhuillier on the label or not) then $2K would be worth it... I;d rather not spend that much since a custom made dress has less resale value but still it's still less than 50% of the original price so there's something to be said for that!

Who knows! Maybe I'll go to the store and Thursday and me and Sarah can be matching brides!
Whathuh.gif Natasha has picshuh.gif I'm going to look right now!

no, she didn'tbuy it off ebay...she bought it from a wedding dress maker in san francisco and spent almost $3000 for the dress and sash...it was the one like your but with the strapless neckline. i thought her dress was beautiful but she just said it didnt feel right after she wore the real one...

Thanks for the info tammy!

I was so sad - i went ot the ML sample sale on Thursday and we litereally the 6th person i the door! If the dress was there I would have bough tit but it turns out that since the dress is so popular it wasn't included.

Honestly I may just suck it up and buyt he real one. Then I can sell it after to try and get some money back. Chicago's resale shop "White" had told me (when I was askign if they had one) that if I did buy it new when I was done I could consign it through them. I would probably try and sell it on my own first but just in case.

Thje fact that your (tammy) friend actually had it made by a dressmaker and she spent so much and still didn't like it makes me think I might as well just buyt he real one and sell it. I should be able to get at least $1000 for it I think and that would br basically the same price as havign it made for 3K...

Anyway I'm undecided and all of a sudden nervous that maybe I didn't look so gorgeous... maybe it didnt' even look that good and I'm just being crazy...

Kash - before spending that kind of $$, definitely try it on a few times. Make sure your reaction is the same every time. If you still love it the 3rd & 4th time trying it on - maybe it is worth the $$. And when searching for you, I've seen more "dress wanted" postings for that ML dress - so I am sure you could get a decent amount at an auction site (eBay).

I can sympathize, Kash. Those same dreams of mine were quickly squashed as well. But, don't give up - you may still find the dress of your dreams for a great price! Or, if you do end up getting Scarlett - then you KNOW you will love your dress! You could consider it an awesome treat to yourself for the hard work you're doing with WW.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
