In regards to the time the reception has to end, I asked Sandra the same question because I want my dancing till sunrise! She said in the new ballroom you can go until whatever time you want, but in the restaurants just until 10:30. This is all verbal when I visited the hotel, so I have yet to get it in writing, but I hope this helps :)

Hi Girls! I am officially ditching St Thomas for a DW and we are booking DREAMS Punta Cana! I know that this is a Dreams Tulum forum but I thought that it is sort of a common thread since it is the same company and I am sure I will have some of the same concerns! Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hello Ladies,

So I have a date in Dec. on "hold" until we figure out a few things...a big concern of mine now is that the receptions have to be held in the convention center/ballrooms (if over 20 ppl). It looks to be that were going to have @ 65 ppl attending, which is more than we anticipated, but of course are happy everyone wants to be there. So I was wondering if anyone has any more info on the convention center; meaning what it looks like, what the rooms are like, etc. I am just worried bc if I wanted 4 walls of a conv. center then I would stay here in Denver & have our wedding...the point of doing a DW is to enjoy the scenery & outdoors, so I am wondering if i have an unfair vision of what this "conv. center" is going to be like for recepetions help there? Any info you ladies may have is much appreciated.

Also, a quick change of pace...my TA quickly recommended that before I 100% decide on Dreams Tulum for our wedding to check out Puerto Vallarta too. Anyone have any opinions on comparisons of Dreams Tulum and say...Vallarta Palace, Azul View, Mayan Palace.....huh.gif

You ladies are the best, thanks ahead of time!

I am getting married there at DT in Dec. We are using the beach for ceremony and reception. Is that something you'd be interested in? From what I've heard the ballroom option will be in the style of the main lobby- which is gorgeous. It should be done soon so we should be able tog get pics from Sandra soon.

Well, our party will be around 40-50 people and we are renting oug the Seaside grill for our reception. It is NOT included in the package (dreams ultimate) but decided we wanted it to be private, yet on the beach.

Sandra told me the ballroom was an OPTION for those parties. She was suggesting EL PATIO which would close down if you had more than 40 people, and there is also this really cool courtyard thing outside of EL Patio & the Veranda which we LOVED but she said is usually meant for 110-120 ppl. or else your party would look swallowed up by the extra space! We agreed.

The ballroom does look amazing from the outside, we could not go in b/c they were still totally working on it...waiting on the pics soon though!

I'll try to take some pictures of the ballroom when I am there NEXT WEEK!!!!

Juan Alfredo (videographer) wrote me back and said 330$ for one hour of video and an extra 160$ for each additional hour. He also said he would send me a copy 2 weeks ago but I haven't received it yet. Yesterday I went ahead and booked Paul from PlayaWeddings. I've looked at several of his videos on his website and I find they are awesome Playa Weddings - Videography in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya Sure, I am paying double the price of having oscar, but at least I feel like I'm guaranteed a good quality video. I am paying 800$ for 2 hours and am getting a highlights video done to music, plus full length video with good sound (he uses a lapel microphone on the groom).

Niels408, I have been to both the Cancun/Cozumel area and Puerto Vallarta, and although I can't compare the specific hotels, the thing that made me choose DT is the beach. Puerto Vallarta was beautiful, but I am not a huge fan of the Pacific Ocean. The water was cold, with much stronger waves, and the sand was not as soft and white. This may not make much of a difference to you, but I just couldn't resist the calm aqua-marine Caribbean. It is also great to be so close to the Mayan ruins! Good luck making your decision! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
