Ann, I just saw your wedding video too, and it was great. It seemed like a perfect wedding! Did you use the Las Caletas videographer? They have a "Professional Video Package" for $575 and an "Adventure Video Package" for $290. Which one, if either, did you get? (I'm hoping you'll say the adventure one, because that would be a great deal!!)

thank you! it was perfect to us - just what we wanted (plus some!). we must have done the Professional one - because we paid $575 - but I think I just told Nicole we wanted "the videographer" - so they may just have one option.

Girls, it has been awhile since I have posted. Life has been crazy, you all know how that goes :) Anyhow, I am getting back into the wedding planning, Chrisnessa, I am also have a big wedding (around 150) and Nicole seemed to have a good handle on the tables and how crowded the beach would be. Quick question, you said that you got 150 silver plated seashell name holders. Where did you get those? Anybody else have advice on name holders?

Also I am looking for an upbeat, fun song for when we are walking back down the aisle together (I think that is called the recessional, but not sure) Any suggestions on that one?

Thanks, Katie

Hi Katie,

I got mine in Dallas at a design store. But I found a site for you to see and the one I have is on here and others for you to see. I have found that a lot if not all the info I have gotten from the forum has enabled me to purchase some items and they all arrived and were great from online shopping.

Place Card Holders

I got hand fans and parasols online as well. The parasols are for decor around the beach not for the actually ceremony.

Japanese Kimonos, Chinese Paper Lanterns, Chopsticks, Chinese Dresses

I'll keep you posted if I see anything else since Im there about 2 wks before your wedding. So exicted!!!

Hi everyone!

Roberto and I are getting married at Las Caletas on February 22, 2008. I am so excited to find this forum (thank you Nicole!!!) and to see that everyone has had such a positive experience working with the people at Adventure Weddings PV. It really reinforces all the excitement and positive feelings I have already!

We will be having about 70-80 guests, and I'm planning to go over the LC early with about 7 of "my girls." (I'm not having bridesmaids - my brother is my "man of honor"... but I wanted to have some girly time before the rest of the folks show up.

I'm planning to do my own hair and makeup... I'm pretty low-maintenance. (My hair is sometimes high-maintenance, but I refuse to stress!!!) A dear friend of the family is performing our ceremony - she is an ordained minister and I've known her all my life! We'll actually have a civil wedding here in Monterrey one week earlier.

Something I'm wondering about... maybe some of you who have already gotten married can help? Is it reasonable to plan to get married barefoot? Or will I hurt my feet between the spa/getting ready area and the beach? We've got some "Just Married" flip flops but we were thinking we'd only wear them after the ceremony.

I'm allergic to flowers, so that makes a lot of our decisions pretty easy! But I'm also wondering about what color choices you have for table runners and napkins and such.

Also - did anyone else's group stay at the Marriott? We've traveled in Mexico a LOT (since we live here) but we chose the Marriott for the location and the soft beds (unlike many Mexican hotels), plus PV is a great city to skip the all-inclusive plan because there are SO many great restaurants... pretty inexpensive too. However, the people at the Marriott NOT being very good about communicating with us about our room block and it's making me nuts! girl_werewolf.gif Every time I turn around they are passing off my account to someone new... and I have to rehash every detail all over again. I don't know what to do. We are just about to send out save-the-dates, but if I don't have a link for people to make reservations, then we don't want to send them yet. Ideas or suggestions are welcome...

Not much else to report... just REALLY looking forward to our big day!!!

(I can see that this site is going to become an addiction...)

Hi Sarah!

Nice to have you here. I was married at LC in June and had a blast. You remind me of myself, I'm soooo low maintainance and did my own hair and makeup too. It was fine and is the last thing you should stress over. My hair tends to frizz & act up but I brought anti-humidity products and they worked great and saved me a few hundred dollars.

Everyone in our wedding party was barefoot - all the men too. On the way down from the bridal casita there were large ants but not so many that we couldn't step around them. And after when taking pictures, there was a point where we were climbing over rocks to get a good shot and shoes would have helped, but we did it without them and it was fine. I think you almost have to be barefoot at a place like LC.

It stinks that you are allergic to flowers but no worries, they will still make things look fabulous for you. I know Nicole has beige, black, and yellow table runners for sure. There are more colors but I forget what they were...I bet someone here can help with that info.

We stayed at Dreams and opted out of a room block because our guests' budgets were so varied (some thought Dreams was too expensive and some thought it was not fancy enough). My brother stayed at the Marriott but he wasn't dealing with a room block so he didn't have those problems. He loved the resort by the way. Sadly, we didn't spend a lot of time hanging out at the hotel anyway because there was so much going on, so in the end for us it didn't matter that all the guests weren't there. Actually, I think we preferred it. There were only about 8 of us at Dreams and it was nice to have a small group to hang with the times we were able to, and not the whole family trying to talk at once...lol.

I hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you want pics of specific things or need more info :o)

Hi Jamy! Thanks for your ideas and answers to my questions. I really like the Marriott... I've visited but I haven't stayed there. I've stayed at the Velas Vallarta and the Melia (on either side of the Marriott) and I love the location but I really prefer not to go with all-inclusive. We live in Mexico and have traveled a lot. There are definitely places that are good to go AI (Cancun, for instance - restaurants are CRAZY expensive)... but Puerto Vallarta has a million great restaurants that aren't too expensive... and no one in our group is a really big drinker (well... one of my cousins is, but I'm sort of hoping she'll have it under control actually... expensive drinks could be a REALLY GOOD thing for her) so we opted for a hotel with a European plan. Still, I wish they would get their freaking act together!!!

I think Nicole has me totally spoiled. Ask a question, get an answer! Yay Nicole!!! smile159.gif

I'm on currently working with my fifth contact person at the Marriott and I still don't have a contract. UGH.

I just keep reminding myself... the wedding will be amazing!!! And we will figure out the hotel mess. BangHead.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
