So glad you started your planning thread! I love your dating story, but your engagement story is the cutest!

I think your colours will look amazing and how great that you were able to find a colour compromise that you're both happy with!

@Wafflesmom

Yay! Glad you've started your thread too! You get married one month before me!!

I love your story! Its so cute and the whole experience from online dating, picking out the ring, to the unknown proposal will be an amazing memory for you both! I love that your ring has sentimental value too. Its cute that he wanted to incorpoate his grandmas diamonds into your ring. You must be very special to him! (obviously haha).

You've chosen a great resort. We had strongly considered the moon palace. My FI thought it looked like a super fun resort and was ready to book it. But we got nervous about the "big" resort feel. I'm glad that will work out to your advantage!

The color shceme is amazing! I had briefly considered coral. but more so love it after having already picked my color out haha. I think it will look amazing on the beach with your setting! Congratulations!!!!

@krystalball thank you so much. I agree that it was nice that we were able to find a happy compromise with our colour scheme. Der always says that the wedding planning and decorating is entirely up to me but I'd rather incorporate things that he and I come up with. It is afterall our wedding :)

@yycbride2016 I thought that I should finally jot all my planning thoughts down! Plus, it's always so helpful to get all of your opinions. It's funny that you guys looked at Moon Palace because we also initially considered Grand Sirenis based on my co-workers suggestion. We ended up choosing Moon Palace for its size, plus their group and wedding perks were pretty good too.

Bridal Party:

As soon as we got engaged, I started planning my own bridal party proposal. I knew right from the start who would make up my party: my sister as my MOH and my three best friends would be my bridesmaids. Being the eldest, my sister has always been there for me and I knew that on my special day, she would make the best MOH. I’ve known my three best friends since we were 10 years old. I have been a bridesmaid for two of them and I knew that I needed them by my side. Like every new bride, I turned to pinterest and etsy for ideas and these sites did not disappoint. I decided that I would propose with custom wine bottle labels. I found a seller on etsy that had our exact colours in one of their designs so I ordered them right away. If anyone is interested, the seller was very responsive and the labels were perfect.

The first person I “proposed” to was my sister. I came over for a Sunday bbq with the wine bottle in a bag and placed it on the counter. She immediately asked what type of wine I brought so I told her to look for herself. She looked at the label and immediately started crying and said yes!

I “proposed” to my bridesmaids during my birthday dinner. We all went out to a nice restaurant and I had hidden the wine bottles in a large bag. After dinner, we were all just chatting and they surprised me with my birthday present. After I opened my present, I told them to all close their eyes. They all looked confused but did as I asked. I placed their personalized bottle in front of them and then told them to open their eyes. They were so excited, and obviously said yes!

I love the wine bottles. That is such an adorable and creative way to ask. I wish I had put more thought into my proposals, but two of my girls were living outside of Canada at the time and one still is.

@yycbride2016 thank you so much. I got to enjoy the wine when they opened it so double win for me lol

@perianjay thanks! I'm sure you would have done the same or something more creative had your bridesmaids been local. I was lucky to have all them by me so it was easier to pull off :)
