I married this January and I think we lost light at 530pm. IMO by 6pm it's dark but we'd an expert to say the exact best time for a sunset photo

I was concerned about the time change that starts this Feb 1. I was hoping for sunset photos but if time changes, we may not get sunset until 6:30 when our reception is happening. Plus if time changes by an hour, our ceremony is scheduled right now at 3 which would then equate to 2 pm with time change. It may be hotter. Am I getting this right?

What time was your ceremony Kim? How was the temp?

It's showing for March than sunset is now 640 pm, instead of 540 :( Samuel suggested pushing it 30 minutes (start 430 instead of 4), but I wonder if 5 pm is better? Reception would start 630 then, is that enough time for the colors?

I emailed wedding coordinator yesterday about some things, but not this yet. I really want some sunset pictures, but not sure I want the reception all dark since it's on the water? Decisions!

I can't see on my phone but you are a January wedding no? If yes then the time will be changed back by next January. Here in Canada anyways the time only changes for a certain amount of months and not

Forever.

We got married at 3pm and yes it was hot and bright from the sun. Sure it posed challenges BUT it was that hot and sunny at 330 and 400 too lol. I could have probably been safe to start at 330 but I needed 2 hours plus for the photos and I was scared if we ran late we would lose the light. I don't regret my decision. The only squinting photos are group ones and sun or

Not it's hard getting people doing everything at the right time anyways.

Does anyone know when this time

Change ends?

@@marinah84 are you going to change it? I actually wanted our reception to be dark since we rented lighting and I want it to show. As for the wedding and photos, are you going to change it? Samuel posted a sunset photo last week (did you see it?) and it was gorgeous!

@@calgarybride2015 from what I understood, they'll be on this new time zone indefinitely, meaning they'll be in sync with Eastern time all year round. Which means my whole schedule may be an hour earlier now (3 pm ceremony will actually be like a 2 pm ceremony)

@@Wafflesmom  I did!  Gorgeous :)   I started a Pinterest board for my photo ideas for him; I wish I could pin directly off of Facebook since he doesn't put most of those on his site!

It looks like the sun will set around 630-640 in March this year (versus 530-540).  What I've read online is that the sun sets fast in Cancun, about an hour.  If I push my ceremony to 430, that would start group photos around 5, and couple photos around 545-630.  Which theoretically would be the "best" time.  I'm waiting for his recommendation, and then will see if I can move it if necessary (not even sure if the resort can, but it only pushes it out 30 min so hopefully they can!).

What kind of lights are you doing?  We'll have colored lights on the "dock" thing for the reception, but I didn't really think of anything else.  I got my kids some glow sticks/bracelets and our centerpieces have blue leds.  Now I'm wondering if I should do something like glow sticks for everyone?

I sent him an email about it last week and he advised me to change my schedule by an hour. He said that he looked into it and everything says that sunset on January 23, 2016 should be 6:30 instead of 5:30. He said we can assess once the time change occurs. I would think that everything would just get moved an hour forward wouldn't it? I've asked my wedding coordinator too just in case

I should start a pinterest board on wedding photo inspirations too, although he's so talented, I think I'll just let him do his own thing LOL

I hope you can push your time, it's only half an hour! I'm hoping I can still change my schedule, especially since we still have a little under a year to go. I thought I was the only one panicking about the time change, so glad to know I'm not alone!

We're having our reception at a terrace so we've rented 4 strings of lit lanterns to be hung overhead. Our centerpieces are tall vases with orchids and white led lights. I'd post a pic of it but not quite sure how to do that.I was also going to have under table lights but my wedding coordinator said that we wouldn't need it since we already have so many lights. I'm so glad she gives me great advice! She could have made me waste money on it but advised against it :) Plus if we're hiring a DJ, I believe they also bring more lights so that's why I'd rather have the reception be during the night when it's dark.

Gah! I just moved my ceremony time so that we would have more light for photos afterwards. I think I'm going to have to move it back to the original time. I was trying to avoid having it earlier because of other guests being on the beach but my photographer suggest starting earlier for photos…back to the original plan I guess. My resort is going to be like "we just moved it, now we're moving it back?"  lol!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
