Wedding Planner Yes Or No?

Ok I am so overwhelmed and it has only been a few days.  This site is awesome..

My FI and I are going to do site visits of some resorts we would like to see in person.  Originally in February but changing it to next month we have the time to take from work.

If you had a wedding planner I would love to hear your experience.  Will they setup the site visits, meet us while in Mexico?  Maybe offer suggestions of resorts based on criteria we are looking at??

Can you recommend your planning company?

Lastly if you did not have one do you wish you did?

Looking at Dreams Tulum, HRH MR, Finest Playa Mujers (new resort), Azul Beach or Azul Fives.. But just read the beach is not that private at Beach so maybe Sensotori.. last one Paradisus la Esmalda...

Now you see why we are overwhelmed.  LOL

I don't think you need a separate wedding planner. If you work with a TA that specializes in destination weddings and work with them to narrow down your options and pin point what's truly important to create the wedding of your dreams I think you will find the stress subside. Choosing your resort is the hardest part, but once you are there- the planning can easily be done between your resort coordinator and using this board!

It gets easier... Promise!

Also, in addition to choosing a helpful TA, once you decide on the resort you will be mainly planning your wedding with the wedding coordinator.  Keep in mind that planning Destination WEdding is different than a hometown wedding.  You will not get responses from your wedding coordinator as quickly as  you would prob prefer...this doesn't mean that they won't be getting things done..it just means that they have other weddings that they are dealing with that are happening right now. We have been slowly planning our wedding but I haven't found that a wedding planner is needed.  You will prob be able gage that once you start communicating with your WC and actually once you decide on your resort too.

Update:  So I paid for Destination Weddings.com and so far I have a terrific person that I am dealing with.  Answers my emails right away.  Is setting up all my site visits.  Set up my transportation etc.  So far so good and I feel like a big weight lifted off of me.

Great to hear, will check them out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
