Grooms Gift?

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies-

Any of you getting your future husband a gift to open on his wedding day or day before??  I was planning on getting him one so we discussed it and decided to do it.  But then I found out my gift idea is the same exact thing his ex wife got him for a wedding gift.  Needless to say I was extremely disappointed and now stumped at what to even get him.  Or should we just scrap the whole idea?  But I kind of like it.... Help!

What was the gift you were going to get him?

I was thinking something like a watch because my FI is a big watch fan. But of course when he ordered the groomsmen's gifts, which are watches, he ordered one for himself. So I don't want to give him something that he is getting his groomsmen the same thing.

Another thing I thought of and I might do is a boudoir session book for just him from me. Soemthing on the cover saying "for Nathan's eye's only." I have seen that on this site. I think that's something he would really love. He always points out that I wear fuzzy pink pj's to bed hahaha so this would really through him off guard.

I am planning on doing this, and having either a close friend take the pictures with our DSLR or getting our family photographer to do it for me.  You can get great deals on photobooks, so I don't anticipate it being a huge expense :)

I have been wondering what I should get my FI. My plan is to do it without talking to him because unfortunately his father died a few years back, and I know he wants him there somehow. So my thought process was to make his gift incorporate his dad in some way, but I just cant seem to find anything I feel is right. Any ideas ?

You could do something like get him a memory pin or something to wear, kind of like what a lot of girls do for their bouquets?

I'm not sure if they do something like that for guys, but worth a look!

EDIT: Of course they do! :)

I was going to do the boudoir photo shoot and book.  He was super bummed when he realized I was going to do it but won't do the same thing as his ex.  I still want to do it for him maybe for our first anniversary for the "paper" or another holiday, but he thinks I totally scrapped the idea forever (I was SUPER disappointed when I found that out).

I thought about a watch, but he doesn't wear watches lol.  He said he used to but doesn't really any more so I am just kind of stumped!

Love this idea!  I have also seen people save a seat and put that persons picture there or have a "memorial" table at the front.

I just realized I am almost half way to 150, YAY!

My fiancé is the same. He has a little collection of watches and loves them. I was going to do that but he ended up ordering himself a watch along with the groomsmen's watches he is getting them. Urgh.

Im getting my groom a watch. He loves watches and has a nice collection growing. Im going to put a cute tag on it saying "meet me at 4". :-)

What is it with men and watches? Haha... I know my FI would love it if I got him a watch but his taste is sooooo expensive that I don't have the budget to buy him one he would want- so I will go with something more sentimental (aka- cheap)! Haha

I don't know either. I was thinking about the boudoir as well but I don't know. He hates watched and everything else he likes is too expensive. I still have the messages he sent me when we first started dating and I thought of making a little book with them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
