Any Other Simple Decor Brides Out There?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies!

Happy Wednesday :)

I just wanted to see if there was any other ladies on here who are having a simple wedding in terms of decoration and such? I keep looking through the forum here and seeing such wonderful ideas from other ladies so I feel like maybe I should do more?

I know every bride is different and it's just not me to spend tons of money on décor. Don't get me wrong, I am bringing down things for the tables and for the card table and lighting (Getting married at a beach club) and it's not going to look empty, I just am not spending the money on flowers or candles or for our ceremony décor like other women are... Not that anything is wrong with spending money on those things though!

Anyone else similar? LOL It would make me feel better!

simple is perfect!!! I didn't do a whole lot, just wanted the beautiful setting (and our love for each other) to shine more than any decorations. I couldn't justify spending tons of $$ on flowers, centerpieces, place settings, lavish entertainment, etc.

And honestly none of that stuff really matters. Do what makes YOU happy. It'll be beautiful and you'll have an amazing celebration that you'll remember for the rest of your life.

You and are similar brides then! We are spending the money on food, DJ, alcohol of course. It's not that we are being super cheap or can't afford it, I just can't justify spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on some things that I will only use for one day.  A lot of the décor I am bringing down I am making sure it can be used again, such as lanterns and battery powered tea lights :) If it can have a dual purpose, then I am super happy.

I like to think of it as "classic" not simple hahaha... I will hope to have a few visually pretty components, but won't have a "lot" of decor. It may end up costing similar but my esthetic is more clean lines and classic look- which often comes across as minimalist. I for example, am not having ANY flowers... But will still have punches of color for sure!

I too am a simple bride....I like clean white and crisp!!!  With maybe just a few votives. I don't want the big flower arrangements.  Everyone has their own unique taste....remember this is about you and your future husband.  Do what makes you happy!!!

I agree with the others--you have to do what makes you happy!  Please don't do ANYTHING you don't want to do. I often look at different websites and think..oooo..that's so pretty!! But at the end of the day, I had to (with the help of my planner) figure out what MY style and what was important to me.  For example, I nixed the cake topper because I didn't really want one. I also nixed the garter and bouquet toss because I didn't want those either.  However, I wanted guests to interact, have fun with each other, and get to know us through our decor (e.g. photos).  I'm not really doing flowers either--just a few rose petals scattered around the tables and some palm leaves. I'm also bringing things that I can use again, such as the star lanterns and mini-chalkboards.

However--I do think that it's worth thinking carefully about what you want to spend on lighting, given the location. From all that I've read, it's pretty dark out there at night! ;)

Tiffany is 100% right - don't do anything you don't want to. And I mean anything.

We didn't do a bouquet or garter toss either. Or toasts. No bridal party - just wanted it to be no pressure for our guests! I really believe that's one of the benefits of doing a destination wedding - a chance to a wedding that is 100% meaningful to you as a couple/family.

Shoot, my bouquet was fake (and noone really knew the difference unless I said something!). I love flowers..but justifying the cost was a whole different subject. Like some of the other brides - the photography and food were our two priorities (and resort!). We were not planning to have a DJ either, but my MIL was generous enough to get that for us as a gift.

I am also keeping things simple! I am making my own centerpieces and using fake flowers for inside the vase. They are very simple and basically will just have rose petals scattered on the table with a few votives. I can't justify spending minimum $90 a centerpiece from the resort for something that will only get used for one day. I think the view of looking at the ocean is enough decoration!

I have the same feelings, but then I find myself getting caught up wondering if it'll look to "plain" or "boring." I am a very visual person so I am having a hard time imaging how everything will come together.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
