@@TinkerSofi Fingers Crossed for Aug 2016! Im hoping we can get the 20th . its the day that works best for everyone. Man The work we went through just to pick a place woosh!! Ive heard this is the hardest part of it all so hopefully from here on things will be more fun and less stressful until the guest get involved haha.

YAY!!! its getting so close!!! AHH im so excited for you! And I bet hearing how excited everyone is makes you even more anxious for the time to come!!  Do you have anything planned to do with your guest while your there? I had a friend mention a Playa Crawl. I guess its a group that sets up different clubs to visit etc. She said she did the Cancun one and heard great things about that one So we'll have to see what I find. but my first worry now is getting the date and then allowing everything else to unfold.

Totally, this is the stressful part, just finding a resort and then getting everyone booked.

We're both August brides yay! I can let you know how things play out during the summer over there haha. We booked last June and it seems there aren't all that many people getting married in August, so I don't think you should have any trouble securing your date :). August also happened to be the best time for us and our friends, so it will be hot but we didn't have many choices :P

What locations did you choose? or are you choosing?

I haven't planned much in terms of activities. Juan really wants to do a yatch tour that we came across. It's not that expensive depending on how many people go and you can do fishing, snorkeling, karaoke, just a bunch of things. It's a half day tour too so I think it would be a lot of fun and it doesn't take up people's whole day. I run it by some of my friends and some are worried of getting sea sick because that happened to them while on a catamaran cruise. However, I would think a yatch is much more stable than a catamaran and so they might not be as likely to get sea sick? I don't know, which is why this is still kind of up in the air. If we can get enough people to make the private prices reasonable then we'll probably do it. I don't think we will have time to do more than two excursions during the week, which is fine. We do want to head to the clubs one day, so a club crawl might be a good idea!

Yay how great Aug. Brides! ! I would love to hear how u our wedding goes. At first I was so worried about booking for August because of the heat but really there wasn't any other time that could work best for everyone and plus more reason to be in the pool and having ice cold drinks :). I would love to do the sky wedding. ( worried about the heat so high up) but I've seen how windy it had been up there so it possibly may not be as bad esp with a later ceremony time. Are you doing a sky wedding ? Picked a time ? I would love to do our reception there as well but the extra cost on top of the 1700 already is tough. My second choice is the garden . Just because of thr pics. But I haven't officially been connected with a wc to recieve further options. What locations are you planning ? I saw a video on the fb azul fives board that really helped ease my thoughts on boredom. The group looked like they had a ball on their own.

Nice a yacht trip would be awesome. any Company in particular you looking into ? I was looking at the catamaran. For snorkeling but that may get costly we will have to see how the budget works out.

I think the sky deck should be fine for the heat because of the breeze. We're doing both things up there, but the garden is really nice when set up, same with the Oriolla Grill, I've seen it set up for weddings and it looks very nice :D, so there's definitely options

We definitely can't buy the yatch trip for people so we're hoping that a bunch of us can get together and go but everyone would have to pay their own part.

@@TinkerSofi & @@racht33 my GI TA had not been to AF until she went this past week for her birthday with her girlfriends. She gave me some information that may be useful.

- great evening shows: specifically mentioned Michael Jackson and 70s/80s themed show

- all bars were great; couldn't pick a favourite

- need reservations at Italian and Thai restaurant but no where else

- all food was UNREAL

- wifi is extra for everyone but bride and groom; very expensive; must pay per device; weekly fee cheaper than daily fee even if only going for 5 days; I think she paid like $180 for 7 devices for the week?! (My notes are at work, I'll clarify tomorrow)

- resort was 95% full and it never felt that way

- monkeys were amazing and mezmorizing

- they no longer offer a shuttle to playa; $20 for 4 people, $40 for 7 (in van cab)

- before going she said do not have your reception on the sky deck (just your ceremony). She changed her mind 100% after going. Said her and her friends all agreed it is gorgeous and worth every penny. She wouldn't recommend an early ceremony as it is so hot, even with wind, but said our 4:30 plan was perfect. We are doing 4:30 ceremony sky deck, 5-6:30 cocktails at zky bar, 6:30 on sky deck.

- didn't recommend beach wedding. They don't move the loungers or anything so tough to not have them or people in your pics. Not private.

- said all the gardens were gorgeous, but weren't going to offer the private setting my FI and I are looking for.

- loved the pier (too small for our group)

- essence was great; pool often emptier than others; less kids

- not like a hard rock where music is blaring and you can't hear the person next to you; lots going on but didn't fel like she was in a constant party

- spots with shade went fast but you could always get a spot on the beach

- seaweed is bad right now and shouldn't be; staff worked tirelessly to maintain it

- few rocks on beach; wear water shoes if you have sensitive feet; nothing to complain about

- amazing spots for photographs all over resort; maintained beautifully

- some brides got married early in the day and wore big satin dresses; she said they were sweating and really recommended I try and find something light

- smoothie bar was amazing. All included unless GI is posted beside it. From what she could remember only protein powder was an extra charge (smoothies with proteins mixed in)

Okay, off the top on my head this is everything I can remember. Please keep in mind this is from my TA, not me! Hope it helps :)

@@racht33 do you have any more information on the playa crawl? If so, could you send it to me? Thanks!

@@acw271011 this was a HUGE bummer for me as well...until I saw it was only going to cost $70pp to upgrade to the one bedroom suite (about $140 per couple). At that rate I think it's worth it. We just sent out STDs yesterday so not sure what people will book but I feel like at that price it's likely a lot will want (and be able to afford) the one bedroom option.

@@snswedding2016 some info above you may want to read too! ^

@@ashhtayy such a helpful post. Thanks for all the feedback! We're having both our ceremony and reception at the sky deck so I'm happy that your TA liked it for both! I wanted something like that since before we started shopping for hotels haha. It is so hard knowing all these things when you have never been.

Did your TA by any chance see the sky deck at night? How is the lighting up there? Would it be enough for the reception or should we rent more? I meant to ask you that before she left and then I lost track of time :(

I want to go NOW!! :D

@@TinkerSofi we do actually have a travel agent - one that we worked with for our wedding and she was great!! After saying that though I dumped her last week and found a new one today that is great!!

He gave me the email to contact AF directly. He had a ton of good things to say about the resort as well, but he did say that he was aware of just double beds. He did say that he was aware of new building so to check with them directly as to what's available. Even with a low cost to upgrade, I have a hard time asking people to pay a huge sum when it isn't our wedding. Doug and I, ok but not anyone else. We're watching prices and they actually have gone down but one category actually went up. We'll just have to see.

I'd like to stay with this resort after all the research work I've done and also really like everything about it. But this thing with double beds will very likely be a deal breaker.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
