From Canada - When Is The Best Time To Book Flights?

Recommended Posts

Hey Future Brides!

I would most recommend going through the actual airline ladies! Like sunwing for example!

I went through Sunwing and they offered me the BEST rates!

I tried absolute wedsite, destinationweddings.com and luxe destination weddings but I honestly found them very shady! There were so many mixed reviews I couldn't bring myself to book through ANY OF them!

And I got quotes from iTravel and Redtag but these companies are resellers NOT direct like sunwing so they were charging more - I guess to make a profit.....

So I emailed Sunwing directly and got $1,478 total per person for 7 nights for my November 18, 2014 wedding!

Good luck ladies!

This CAN work, but so can working with a reputable and professional TA that has relationships with both the operators (like Sunwing) and the resorts. There are many fabulous TAs out there who have great relationships and thus get added perks for their bride like free rooms, upgrade bonuses, free wedding events and other added value that an operator or hotel direct won't necessarily offer to one-off brides. We found that the price was identical going direct to negotiate and via our fabulous TA- but she wrangled added perks and free add-ons that are going to add up to almost $9,000!

Bottom line, work with someone you feel comfortable with and who wants to make the whole process as easy as possible! There are lots of options out there- just make sure you go with your gut!

I went with Sunwing as well. I talked to Marlin Travel, Blue Petal, even my friend at a travel agency. I was so sad that NO AGENT can gave me better and more prompt response than Sunwing. It was really a shame because I heard many good things about Blue Petal from this website, but my experience was rather upsetting. I was initially talking to Jill Tran in July 2013, she forwarded me to another agent to discuss pricing and quote. Another month or so went by and then Jill forwarded me to another agent because the first agent was too busy. I emailed Jill again in Oct 2013 because I haven't heard from the second agent and to see if I can get some quotes for some resorts. No reply. I just gave up on them after that.

I guess not too many people from the west coast go all the way to Riviera Maya to get married or something? I don't understand why it is so hard to get pricing from TAs (Marlin Travel told me to be patient because they can't get pricing yet), but it is so easy to get pricing from Sunwing.

Honestly I emailed a few TA's that I found off here AND that were recommend to me by friends/family but they were either unresponsive or price quoted was too high!

I found sunwing to be quick which is what I needed! And to allow $150 deposit per person until September when final payment is due - my wedding is in November - worked perfect for my Fi and I. PLUS they gave me the best price!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
