How is everyone getting their oot bags to their destination? Shipping ahead of time? Bringing in an extra suitcase? How about your wedding dress? Shipping or bringing on the plane?

@liz24 it is reccomended NOT to ship anything to Mexico as it will probably not make it through customs.

Most of the girls on forum are bringing both with them in suitcases. Checking extra luggage for OOT bags and bringing their wedding dress on the plane with them in a garment bag.

I will be doing the same with my stuff. Bringing a bunch of duffle bags so that way when the bags are empty I can combine them all into one bag and only check one on the way home.

My suggestion from everythign i read is DO NOT ship anything down if you want to see it again.

if you serach on this site there is many many bits of info on how to go through customs, teh receipts you will need, etc.

This is supser helpfu I would use the search function up top. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@Vanessav53 so people only have problems shipping? I won't need receipts just bringing it on the plane right? Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea!!!

Oh yeah DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING!!! Bring it with you and don't let it out of your sight!! ESPECIALLY your dress. Duffel bags for the OOT bags, or Tupperware bins are great ideas! I've read a few brides have taken Tupperware bins, and taped them up. Bring extra tape with you, in case you are asked to open the bins for security to inspect, then you can tape it back up and on it's way it goes. I like the idea of duffel bags too, b/c those can be packed so easily into each other and brought back home.

@liz24 there is a $300 limit per family for "goods" that are in addition to your regular luggage. Basically they want to make sure you aren't bringing things into the country to sell. Since most of the stuff is o bviously wedding stuff you shouldn't have a problem. There is a whole forum on this topic. NONE of the brides had any issues checking bags with them with weddign stuff. Theya ll got through no problem but the ones who had receipts zipped right through. I'm traveling with my parents, aunt, grandma, sister, etc. so I'm just going to split upt eh duffle bags and make sure none has more than $300 worth of goods in it. Which belive it or not is easier than I though ti twould be bc most of teh stuff I"m taking down is alot of the little things not expensive things

As for my dress I bought a garment bag online called the wally 66 it got graet reviews on this site adn it fits in teh overhead compartment. It has special foam rollers in it to prevent you rdress from wrinkling. Jet blue does not have a closet to hang anything so I had to figure out how to get the dress down there. I am NOT letting it out of my site!

I found the Wally 66 on Amazon.com. It got great reviews from several people who used it to transport wedding dresses or ball gowns. From the description and reviews it may hold my dress and my FI's suit. I also like the tip about using duffle bags since I plan to leave some stuff down there. Thanks for the info.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
