Royalton White Sands

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the email Pam! $1478 for 7 nights sounds amazing! I have to do more research. Is Sunwing a wedding planning site/company or just for regular travel?

No prob!

Sunwing is a Canadian airline and tour operator...they actually own Royalton White Sands. I think it's the first hotel they own....

I would definitely get quotes from many different providers!

Good luck!

No worries! I'll be posting anything and everything I think you ladies might find useful over the next few months! ;)

Congrats on sending out your invites! That's awesome! I'm sure your guests are super excited to book the vacation!

I'm having a hard time with picking a photographer as well....I keep saying 'ok, this one' but then 10 minutes later I'm like 'wait, am I sure?' LOL It honestly is one of the biggest decisions! Are you leaning towards Merrick? Sorry about his prices :(

When are you going dress shopping? YAY have fun! <3 I just went on May 3rd and purchased the first dress I tried on <3

Hey CherJK! :) Do you know if we can add it to the Free Package? It says location to be determined in location - does that mean they can't guarantee the location we want? Like the beach or the pool? Do you know what the traditional Jamaican dinner includes?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks for the photographer suggestion - do you know what photographer you're going with?

Hi Pamelas21. Yes you can add the Jamaican Experience to the free wedding package. That's what we will be doing it really does seem like the most cost effective way of having a wedding. But I do agree with CherJK, the food choices are no surf and turf. Here are the choices

Apps

Beef patties

Jamaican jerk sausages

Codfish & Ackee canapés

Dinner Menu

Salad-garden salad

Soup-pumpkin soup

Main course

Jerk Chicken

curried goat

Escovitched Fish (??? No idea what this is)

Plain Rice / rice and peas

Rice Plantains

Sweet Potatoes

Dessert

Coconut Pudding / assorted seasonal fruits

Banana Mousse

I think the menu is the biggest downfall of this package. I also asked if there was an additional setup fee for the package and her response was. With the Jamaica experience we can host this event for you at the beach or poolside. 20 guests are included within the package - additional guests are $50usd per person to include them within this package.

Also with the jamaican experience there is no location fee - it is all included within the package price. It is highly recommended should you wish to host a private reception.

I'm not positive but it would be worth looking into the possibility of changing the menu to suit your needs. I'm sure they would charge extra though...

Good morning Brides!!!

My wedding is next June so I'm going to my first bridal gown shop in June 21st. Yay!!! I have a dress or two in mind but we'll see what the outcome is once I get there:-).

Just out of curiosity, what are the expected cost for you guest to attend and how long are you asking them to stay? I'm trying to keep their cost for hotel and flight around $1200 for 5 days/4nights from JFK. Of course no one has to stay for 5 days though

Pam, do you mind emailing me that packet that you have? Soewedding@@gmail.com

Thanks!

We have rates of $1748 per person for 7 nights (from Toronto). Your rates are going to vary greatly depending on which month you are travelling. January-March is going to be the most expensive time to travel. It usually gets less expensive during the summer months.

  • 2 weeks later...

The nickel and diming makes me a bit nervous, we’re already over budget! Then again, you only get married once. :)

Does anyone have Laura’s contact info?

I contact Laura through this email address: [email protected].

We’re over budget too!

Honestly, I have to say I’m a little frustrated! If I’d known this wedding was going to cost this much I would’ve waited another year to save! And to top it all off we have to pay in USD not CDN which makes a difference for us Canadian couples!

I apologize in advance for the below rant…..  :(

Note ladies – WE HAVE TO USE TAI FLORA!

The reviews on here for Tai Flora ARE NOT GREAT!

And to top that I just got the flower quote! IT”S CRAZY! $600 for medium rose coverage for the wedding aisle. WHAT?

I happened to come across Jan’s Flowers Catalog because I was looking for a cake vendor – wish I hadn’t because Jan’s flowers prices are so much cheaper!!!

I got a quote for a small vase of roses and hydrangeas – small for the cocktail tables - $80 with Tai Flora.

In Jan’s Flowers Catalog, the exact same arrangement is $30…..

Jan’s Flowers Chiavari chairs are $7 each – Tai Flora is $10 each!

Chuppah with white draping in Jan’s flowers $250 – Tai Flora is $466!

Gah!

I’m just so sad I HAVE to use her! Especially since the reviews on here are SO BAD for Tai Flora!

Tai Flora quoted me $200 for my bridal bouquet – my lord I honestly didn’t think it would be that much ESPECIALLY SINCE MY BOUQUET IS INCLUDED WITH MY WEDDING PACKAGE! I mean they’re charging what a florist in Canada would charge for flowers!

I emailed Laura a LONG email yesterday requesting more quotes….I told her Jan’s flowers has a full catalog with prices and that it would be so much easier if Tai Flora had prices in her catalog too!

I also looked up tropical flowers in hopes that I can bring this cost down…you ladies should see this email I sent Laura – it’s massive! But I told her I can’t make a decision without pricing!

I mean, shouldn’t they help us!? I asked Laura to ask the florist to give me suggestions on flowers to bring the cost down!

Sorry for all the caps ladies – I’m just shocked and confused! Feel like the Royalton is making a BIG cut of this wedding – Tai Flora better be worth it!

Sorry again for the caps and frustration! I can’t even stress how jailed I feel that we have to use Tai Flora!

Good luck ladies!

Pam

I agree! Rant away! That's what this thread is for, helping and ranting lol! :) I'm sure when I get closer to my wedding date I will have lots of "rant" posts too.

Why do have to use Tai flora? If you pay the vendor fee why couldn't you use someone else? I asked about bringing in a makeup artist and was told I'd have to pay the $450 vendor fee to bring them in HAHA! That's not going to happen!

Thanks ladies! <3

The contract says: Unfortunately, we do not allow any other wedding provider companies or vendors aside from photographers or videographers at this time.

Laura told me I can bring in my own hair and make up as long as they do it in my room for $70 each. It's called the day pass....

This better be correct because I already put down deposits for Loni Jones and Hair by Chellz!

Who told you $450? Laura?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
