Deciding between the resorts for a wedding or honeymoon? How many guests are you looking at having?

I would recommend the Jalisco hands down over the Buenaventura. The Jalisco is 10 times the size of the Buenaventura. But that is my opinion, I'm not sure what you're totally looking for in a venue.

Hi Raeka,

I'm also looking at doing my wedding at the Jalisco. I took a look at your pics, which btw are stunning! I was wondering, is the gazebo the only other alternative to not doing it on the beach? I wanted a gazebo setting and its a little difficult to see what the set up would be like. For example, where would the guests be seated? on either side? I'm so confused. haha. Please help. Thanks!

Yes unfortunately the beach is the only other option the Jalisco offers besides the Gazebo. They have a beautiful garden which I tried so hard to use but management said no.

We sat 30 guests seated INSIDE the gazebo with us and about 10 people stood behind the chairs. We also had people sitting outside of the gazebo who had a great view as well. Theres a speaker system so there's no trouble with not hearing the vows and music.

we had our reception dinner at the Brazillian Nayarit restaurant in doors. It was a greta meal - just a little rushed. We had our welcome dinner at the restaurant along the beach outside. Sorry i can't remember the name.

Thank you for posting your wedding and critique, it is extremely helpful to those of us still planning! Your wedding was beautiful

We are getting married on February 4, 2009 at the Riu Jalisco. I had a couple questions for anyone who may know the answers

1. We wanted our ceremony on the beach and I was wondering if there were options for the type of "covering" for ministers table and our wedding party. I was hoping for more than just a couple palm fronds, more like white fabric and a little more substance

2. We really want a string trio/quartet and I have seen on another site that it was an option in PV, but I wanted to be sure we could really get that as I have my heart set on it =)

3. Was your cake easy to choose, meaning a number of options?

Thank you so much for any information you can provide

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
