@ congrats on your upcoming wedding...I hope you and your guests all have a blast...enjoy your week and remember, not to stress out...it's all about you :)

Hi everyone, is any of you using an outside florist? I honestly don't like Lomas' florist work and i think their selection is very limited and expensive. Can you suggest any outside florist to me?

Thanks

I have heard of people supposedly avoiding the Lomas $800 outside vender fee by booking a room in the vendor's name (whether for photography or DJ).  Not only that, I have also heard that this room booked in the vendors' names can be used for actual wedding guests.  Does anyone know how that would work, because it is not obvious to me.  Presumably the room would have to be booked in the actual name of the vendor, so how could another guest, with another name, check in?  This would be great if it is really doable.

or is this just a wives' (or I guess in this case a brides') tale?

your guest would have to buy their ticket and hotel with another person but they can have their own room when they get there. When they check in they'll "officially" be rooming up with the other guest, according to hotel records but they can have a room for their own.

This only works for room only reservations.... Any Canadians booking as a package, this wouldn't work. Also- it would really only work for a single- since if you put 3+ names on a reservation, then you need to pay more and it would be for every night of the reservation not just a few days in the middle to cover the 3 night minimum for vendors

Keep in mind too- that this vendor would have 100% rights to room keys etc to the room you have their name on- which would be "shared" with your guests... Make sure that your guests are ok with that!

Exactly. Kmk is right. There comes a point where it's not even worth it and it only works if you're booking land only. You can still do that from Canada. I have a few guests who have land only. However, we have a photographer and their assistant and a videographer and their assistant as well so it's just cheaper to pay the $800 than 3 nights for all of them.

@Lilgabri03 my quote was $225 a table for the centerpiece - yes it adds up really quick but to save money I had 9 guests at each table and for the guest of honor table, I had about 8 or 7 (I cant remember now). Also, another way I found to save money could be to move some of your decor from the location of your ceremony to your reception. I requested that all my decor which would look good at the reception be moved including the chair ribbons, flowers etc except the white sheers. The resort was great. We had a blast. Management at Azul Fives really goes all out for their guests. Most of my guests got room upgrades. My onsite wedding coordinator worked so hard for me she did not want me to move a muscle or stress about anything. If I needed anything, she got it done. If I needed to find a guest, she found them. The Lomas staff was also great, they threw in a bunch of stuff that I did not even request for/ pay for at my rehearsal dinner like the DJ and MC - I was honestly speechless.

@@Jb2b it would be very difficult to travel with all your decor. I traveled with my wedding favors, welcome bags, guest book but no decor and I had to pay the airline for an additional checked-in luggage and for excess luggage. Also, TSA does conduct random searches if you are lucky they might not search your luggage but usually when they do, they are not careful and might break things. A guest had the screen of her laptop broken. Another had a few personal items broken as well. So I don't know if I would risk travelling with all your decor. I think I was lucky my luggage was not selected.

They threw in the DJ and MC for free???  How did you manage that?  Did you spend a lot of money on private events?  How was the DJ?  Josh and I have heard different things about the DJ, and it sounds like for those brides who had particular songs in mind (or songs they DIDN"T want played) the Lomas DJ wasn't that great.  :(

FYI/ I just asked the question of a bride who got married last week at Azul beach and said she used the unlimited private events! Hope she brings good news!

Did you hear anything more about the unlimted private events?  Josh and I want to use them too!

Hello Azul Fives 2014 Brides!

I am posting in both the Azul Fives 2014 & 2015 fourms. I am having my wedding at Azul Fives on April 2nd, 2016 and having approximatly 40-60 guest. I am interested in any recommendations for videographers. I would really like to get imput from past Azul Fives brides about their own experience and overall quality of their choosen videographer. If you used either of the two Azul Fives approved videographers (Caribe photograph and Matias Cano) or if you choose to go with an outside vendor. I would really appreciate your assistance.  Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
