Hey there!  Initially I was looking to do spring break week as well because I thought it would be easier for guests to travel. My initial quotes were about $600 more to travel during that time. I guess it depends on if you have a max amount that you want guests to have to pay. I ended up going with January 18th 2014 because its MLK weekend and most people already have at least 1 or 2 extra days off from work and its not as expensive as spring break.

I am having the same issue!!! I already submitted my deposit for April 12, 2014... but I am getting so nervous about the prices that I am thinking about pushing the date to mid May... ahhh idk what to do!!! HELP GUYS! lol I just dont want my guests to end up paying a ridiculous amount just b/c of the date i picked.

It all comes down with what works best for you...honestly, picking the date was so hard because everyone had an opinion and I was trying to make it work for everyone. I believe summer is the cheapest, but I couldn't wait THAT long, and it would be a bazzilion degrees on my wedding day lol....  Maybe people could book a tropical view room (the cheapest), to make up for the higher airfare prices?? The truth of the matter is, people will really try their best to be there for you... Alllll these tough decisions bahhhhhh

Does anyone have any advice on ceremony locations. I am thinking either the beach or the pergola. Does anyone have advice on this? Also, we were thinking of doing the reception at Castaways. I read on the Now Jade info that you can't have music in a restaurant? Does anyone know anything about this? Does Castaways allow a DJ for the reception? Dancing is a must!!

Thanks ladies,

Mandy

Congratulations  on your upcoming wedding Mandy!

I just recently got married at the NOW Jade on May 25th, 2013.  We were unsure of the locations as well since we had not been to the resort prior to the wedding.  We had our ceremony at the Pergola and the reception at Castaways Restaurant.  The pergola for us was a better choice just because it offered more privacy and you did not have to worry about going barefoot.  We opted out of using the DJ at Castaways since my Husband wanted a live band instead.  We  ended up hiring the Tequilla Band through Pilar, they were amazing! I'm not sure where you heard that you cannot have a DJ at your reception, but you definitely have that option, especially with your wedding reception being at Castaway's.   Hop this helps a little in your planning process :)

Best of Luck!

Lauren

Question for all brides that have gotten married @ NOW Jade. From looking at the wedding packages, I'm wondering if alcohol/drinks at the reception/cocktail hour are included with the package or at an additional cost? Also, they make it appear as though all food at the reception is included..just wanted to confirm this :).

Last, is any decor included in the packages (or is it at an extra cost)? It looks like the divine package is the only package that even includes chairs (and only with white chair covers and a ceremonal table/walkway). Are all other ceremony decor at an additional charge??

Hi Katie, Check out the Official Now Jade Thread for much more information than this one!

Alcohol/Drinks/Food is included for the number of people specified in your wedding package. If you have more than that # there is a per person feed you need to pay (i.e. if you have the Divine package and you have more than 25 guests). I've seen the additional dinner fee for the divine package, but haven't seen or heard of anyone being charged for additional alcohol/drinks.

The Divine package includes some decor (flowers for the ceremony, for example two flower medallion things for each side of the pergola or canopy, plus an arrangement for the "signing" table), but I don't believe there's anything else. Chair bows, table cloths, additional centerpieces etc.. are all at your own expense. You can rent it from the resort for a premium (but less hassle) or bring it down yourself for much cheaper (but takes up luggage space!).

Hope that helps, and again, check out the other thread!

Hello Now Jade brides! Congrats on your upcoming weddings! :) This post is for any brides interested in affordable unique decor for your big day.

I'm a newlywed from Vancouver, Canada that lives down here in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I have quite a few decor items leftover from our wedding in May, mostly in a rustic vintage style. I've decided to rent things out to brides that don't want to lug things like vases & mason jars down here to Mexico, and have priced things quite fairly compared to the resorts' prices.

I have a lots of different types of bottles, mason jars, vases and lanterns, as well as a variety of other items like wooden signs & frames, table runners, rustic birdcages, string lighting and even a portable sound system. A lot of these items are very hard to find down here, and many brides have been happy to find my collection of wedding decor.

If you want a Style Me Pretty or Ruffled type of wedding in Mexico without a huge price tag, I'm your gal! So far no one has had to pay an outside vendor fee at all, as they tell their WC that they have brought the decor themselves. I'm also always interested in buying items that brides bring down and would like to sell after their weddings, please send me photos of anything you'd like to sell!

If you'd like to see some photos and a price list, please send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you all the info. Also if anyone has any questions about the area, ask away! I've lived in Playa Del Carmen for two years and know the whole coast quite well. Happy planning ladies!

Here's a couple of photos of some items we used in our wedding and that are for rent, but I have lots more:

Does anyone know if there are any cool bars at the resort for after the wedding and dinner? I'm thinking we will have ~20 guests, which may not be enough to enjoy a typical dance/DJ. Looking for a good place to take the guests the night of the wedding for some dancing and good music.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
