Casa Dorada

Hi! I just got engaged a couple months ago and we are looking at locations to get married in Cabo. We've had a couple of recommendations from our friends and Casa Dorada is one of them. Most of the information I've been able to find on here is from 2011 or later so I was hoping to get some more up to date information from anyone that has gotten married at the hotel recently.

Any advice is welcome! Thank you in advance!

hi! i just got back from cabo (february 16-23 2013) and my fiance and i are very seriously looking at casa dorada as a location for our wedding.

we went on a tour there and it was beautiful! it does have an all inclusive package if you have something like 50 people confirmed to stay there. the all inclusive was $120 per day per person on top of your your room cost.

the only cons we found about casa dorada is that it is right next to downtown so some of the music from the restuarnts could flow into the ceremony and/or reception. the other con was that it is kind of "crowded" around the pools. my fiance and i are worried that we'll never be able to have a moment alone when we're at the pool or beach at casa dorada. we feel like everywhere we turn we'll be right on top of our guests. the beach is crowded and very small.

hope that helped!

triciab & tzmufasa,

Can you ladies please share what pricing and other info you got from the hotel (both for food and beverage, and hotel room)?  Would you mind PM'ing me with it.  I also could give you my email via PM if it's easier to email.

Also, what has your experience been with dealing with the hotel?  It's been nearly a month since my original email, and I just got one non-responsive email from the wedding coordinator.  I got married at the Casa Dorada when it first opened and am looking to do an anniversary party there next year, but the hotel appears to have a new wedding coordinator.  The level of responsiveness is completely different (i.e., they are not being very responsive), and it's been very frustrating.  Any input and information you can relay would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Ladies!

I am working with Casa Dorada right now trying to get a contract nailed down.  I just got the first estimate and was somewhat shocked at what they wanted to charge.  Can any of you PM me with what you were able to negotiate?  I am planning a wedding for around 50-75 people and kept asking if I could customize their packages, but I haven't been too impressed so far.  I love the location and view of this hotel and it is next door to the resort where I own a timeshare, so I am pretty set on having the wedding/reception here.  Any info would be helpful!

Thanks!

Hi Tori & Stella,

I sent you both PM's in the last couple of days. I didn't realize anyone replied to my question!

I've been able to finally put down a deposit for the hotel but overall, the responsiveness from Jazmin is really slow especially through email. I've realized that I get a much quicker response if I can instead of just email.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

I am waiting to hear from Casa Dorada for my 2014 nuptials- would youmind sending me the pricing info they gave you? Are you having the wedding on the terrace? That is what my WC suggested b/c of the crowds on the beach. How many people are you having in your wedding- I am thinking about 40-50, with a 10k budget. Anyone else with Casa Dorada info? PM me of email me: [email protected]

Thanks!!

Hi Ladies,

I got married at Casa Dorada in May of 2012 and my husband and I just returned from there a few days ago for our one year anniversary.  It is true that the response time for e-mails can be very slow so it does make planning a wedding from the states a bit overwhelming at times but I think it is just a cultural thing.  We are so use to immediate responses here in the US and Mexico operates at a slower pace.  My husband and I never even visited Casa Dorada, we planned our entire wedding via e-mail and with the help of the most amazing wedding planner (Luba Ponce at Unique Cabo Weddings- [email protected])  Luba made sure our wedding went smoothly and it truly was fantastic; our guests are still talking about it!

The customer service once we arrived at the hotel was awesome!  The general manager brought us to a meeting room with about ten other hotel staff who all introduced themselves and went around and told us if we needed anything to let them know.  When we just went for our anniversary, they gave us a free upgrade to the penthouse suite and we again were greeted by the general manger and Jazmin upon arrival.  I would definitely recommend getting an outside wedding planner to help with all the details because Jazmin is very busy not only planning wedding but other hotel events. Luba is the best wedding planner in Cabo!  She is the sweetest person and goes above and beyond, I can honestly say that she has become a great friend.  Every wedding is special to her and she treats you that way, no matter if you have 10 people at your wedding or 100.  We had about 60 people at our wedding and there is no way we could have planned our wedding without Luba, I would have been a nervous wreck.  I drove her crazy with a million e-mails and she ran all over town to find the perfect favors, decor, cake, to make sure I had the wedding of my dreams but still stuck to our tight budget.  She is worth every penny, hire her!

P.S.  I know a few of you mentioned the noise from the beach and Mango Deck.  Yes, it is true that the Mango Deck is loud.  Luba asked them to turn off the microphone during the ceremony which they did and it is my understanding that Casa Dorada has some kind of agreement regarding this.  During the reception, I never really noticed it because we had our own music going.  Hope that helps!  Let me know if you ladies have any other questions, I have lots of insight!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
