Hi Ladies, I got married at Casa Dorada in May of 2012 and my husband and I just returned from there a few days ago for our one year anniversary.  It is true that the response time for e-mails can be very slow so it does make planning a wedding from the states a bit overwhelming at times but I think it is just a cultural thing.  We are so use to immediate responses here in the US and Mexico operates at a slower pace.  My husband and I never even visited Casa Dorada, we planned our entire wedding via e-mail and with the help of the most amazing wedding planner (Luba Ponce at Unique Cabo Weddings- [email protected])  Luba made sure our wedding went smoothly and it truly was fantastic; our guests are still talking about it!    The customer service once we arrived at the hotel was awesome!  The general manager brought us to a meeting room with about ten other hotel staff who all introduced themselves and went around and told us if we

needed anything to let them know.  When we just went for our anniversary, they gave us a free upgrade to the penthouse suite and we again were greeted by the general manger and Jazmin upon arrival.  I would definitely recommend getting an outside wedding planner to help with all the details because Jazmin is very busy not only planning wedding but other hotel events. Luba is the best wedding planner in Cabo!  She is the sweetest person and goes above and beyond, I can honestly say that she has become a great friend.  Every wedding is special to her and she treats you that way, no matter if you have 10 people at your wedding or 100.  We had about 60 people at our wedding and there is no way we could have planned our wedding without Luba, I would have been a nervous wreck.  I drove her crazy with a million e-mails and she ran all over town to find the perfect favors, decor, cake, to make sure I had the wedding of my dreams but still stuck to our tight budget.  She is worth every penny, hire her!   P.S.  I know a few of you mentioned the noise from the beach and Mango Deck.  Yes, it is true that the Mango Deck is loud.  Luba asked them to turn off the microphone during the ceremony which they did and it is my understanding that Casa Dorada has some kind of agreement regarding this.  During the reception, I never really noticed it because we had our own music going.  Hope that helps!  Let me know if you ladies have any other questions, I have lots of insight!

Hi there,

Would you be able to PM me Luba's contact as I am trying to plan a wedding in Cabos from London, UK. Lucky my fiance is from Mexico and his mother who lives in Tijuana will be heading down to Cabos to check out our choices, and after all the reviews I have read, Casa Dorada is definitely going to be one of them if not too much out of our budget.

Thank you so much!!!

Hi!  Sorry, I just received your message.  Jazmin at Casa Dorada is very sweet but the communication with the resort was definitely not their strong suite.  The best way to reach her is to go on the website and call the toll free number and get her on the phone.  Sometimes the hotel doesn't always answer the number.  To be honest, I had some difficulty with the hotel and the planning process which is why I hired Luba Ponce, she was amazing and on the ground to do all of the work for me.  When I arrived, the hotel arranged a meeting with my husband and I and the entire hotel staff (like 20 people).  It was pretty impressive.  They provided a little breakfast and told us they were at our service.  They went over the details of the wedding and were there to answer our questions.  Once we arrived, everything was fine but the communication before the wedding made me extremely anxious.   Contact Luba Ponce at [email protected], she is amazing, you will absolutely LOVE her!

I would not recommend getting married at Casa Dorada without an outside wedding coordinator.  Jazmin is very sweet but not as detail oriented as I would have liked.  The final bill for my wedding was even incorrect, they overcharged us on the price per person.  I brought all of the e-mails and quotes with me that I was provided and they did correct the error but if I wouldn't have caught it, I would have been overcharged.  Good luck!

I just talked to Leoan, the wedding planner at Casa Dorada. She said that the guests don't have to stay at the resort in order to get the same prices for the reception, is this true? She also indicated that outside wedding vendors would cost 15% of whatever the vendor is charging. I.e if I wanted my own coordinator than I would have to pay them 15% of whatever my coordinator is charging me. Does anyone else recommend having an outside coordinator at Casa Dorada?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
