We're in the same boat, we want to make the food ourselves to save some money! I think we're just going to recruit friends and family to help out :)

A lot of DW brides on here have done a Taco bar Nacho bar playing into the theme of their wedding Sounds easy and cost effect all you have to do is cook the meat and display the fixings, lettuce, cheese, salsa, sour cream, guacamole etc. This can be fun for guests too.  Just a thought

Have you considered something like champagne and dessert reception? Will be easier to make ahead and freeze, than making hot food to feed 100+ the night before plus preparations for the day of. Desserts are also less cleaning up after.

Great ideas. I like the idea of a taco bar.

I'm doing a taco bar. There's a great mexican place here that will cater for pretty cheap.  I also called into some food trucks that set up catering for a reasonable amount. My sister threw me a bday party last year and did a taco bar by making tons of shredded pork in lots of crock pots and then had coronas and some margarita mix and it was great too

It's stressful to think that after our destination wedding we will be throwing an AHR. It's like planning for two weddings! I'm regretting committing to it.
