alternative bachlorette party ideas?

Recommended Posts

How surprised are you that all hardly any of us want the traditional bach. party? I guess I should've expected so, since most of us are going the DW route. great ideas ladies! I will talk to my sister today about our options, but I might stick with the pottery thing...

I second the wine tasting thing. I had a lingerie party at a local wine bar and we did a tasting (really drinking) of 5 different champagnes. It was awesome. The spa weekends and camping sound fun too though, and I'm totally with you on the non-traditional thing. I think everyone invited was relieved as well.

good point! when i was in college, my group of girlfriends made a pact that none of us would to the bar-hopping, penis-wearing, giggly girl bachelorette party thing when we all got married. and we all held true to the pact ... except one girl - and she's totally changed since college, so we weren't surprised. i've only had to go to a few of them, and hated every minute of it! lol are you all also the type that just cringe and hide when you see a bachelorette party walk into the bar you're in? i do!

Oh lordy yes, Ann. I feel embarrassed for them. Especially when they are all drunk and dancing on the bar with short skirts on. That seems to happen all the time in Philly. I am fine with it, if that is fun for them, but I jsut don't see how. I guess I have always been more laid back then that.

And male strippers do NOTHING for me. I would much rather watch a woman stripper, but I do not want to be the one they are focused on, EVER!

OMG I cannot believe I forgot to post about my bachelorette party! Actually, we called it a Stagette party since that sounds more fun! So, I am not the type of girl at all to want to wear a tiara, go to random bars, get really drunk and be embarassed. So instead, one of my best friends planned a slumber party for 11 of us and it was awesome!

Well, it started out as a slumber party and they had a surprise planned for me: exotic dance lessons! It was soo much fun! We had a few drinks, and then they surprised me with clear high heels and some fishnets and I was like, "thanks guys" and then they all pulled out their highest heels, oversized button-down shirts and we all got dressed and told me where we were going! It was hilarious, 11 girls wearing men's shirts and heels and learning how to dance all sexy. Oh, and it was a private class obviously.

It wasn't raunchy at all, very tasteful and sexy, I would actually take more classes. I will find out the exact name of the class, but it was great. We had contests like "Sexiest Hip Roll" and "Secret Saucy" and I got to judge! And I got three videos to keep, one even has chair moves. So much fun! My FI was definitely happy about the evening...he didn't know what we were doing, just that they asked him what size shoe I wear. Ha! He was nervous!

So, just thought I would throw that out there in case it sounds fun. It was a blast!

Jill that sounds like the best party ever!!! I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I don't like strippers... so a slumber party with all my girlfriends and then a private exotic dance lesson where we could all have fun would be SO awesome. I so wish this idea would magically pop into my sister's head!

I don't know, I feel weird about it. Like, I don't really deserve one because I'm getting married away. And honestly, I'm PERFECTLY happy with not doing anything until we get to Mexico and then just going to the spa with the girls. But, it'd still be sweet if she did plan one.

Are they usually a surprise? I don't think it would be weird for you to talk to her about it, even if you said exactly what you jsut said - that you'd be happy doing a spa day in Mexico. Don't forget that it is about YOU. I am sure she is thinking of doing something, so why not have some input? But then, I am a planner, not much for surprises, so I am going ot be involved in my shower and bach. party. My sister tells me it's cuz I am controlling.rofl.gif But I don't go crazy about the details either, which is kinda why I want to be involved, so that everything is pretty low-key.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
