Opps! I wasn't finished.... I know they still have a little bit time left but I'm just so curious.

We have had the "opposite" problem.... not really opposite.... but- we had guests RSVP "yes", book a room, and now cancel! how WEIRD?? and i'm not talking 1 or 2. we have had SEVEN rooms do this!! one is my FI's brother who is/WAS IN the wedding.... (all seven rooms are FAMILY!)

I don't know what's wrong with people. i have learned one big thing about people planning this wedding and that is that the people that are going to be there for you are going to be there for you no.matter.what! and others can't be trusted/depended on... you just never know.

We have decided we are having an amazing time no matter what and we aren't taking anything personally. We still have a good number of people coming, so whatever.

Good luck with your guests booking!!!

I agree. I'm just kinda frustrated. I really wanted a small/intimate wedding & we are up to like 57 guest, only 8 from my family with a few couples that are mutual friends of my FI & I. But a large chunk of ppl I don't even know. Alot of them, it seems my FI doesn't even know. Ill ask him "Who's such and such?" & his reply is "Hmmm, sounds familiar, but I'm not sure, ill have to ask my mom." Just kinda frusterating. I am honored that so many people are coming to share our special day but so much for my idea of a small/intimate wedding. I know 57 isn't a large wedding compared to some local weddings, but just not really what I originally planned for a destination wedding. However, I'm realizing if we had a local wedding, I'm confident our guest list would hit 200+ so ill take 57 (and counting, hopefully not to much over that!)

Wow! That is a lot of people. I totally know what you mean by small and intimate. Half the reason we did destination was just like you- I didn't want tons of ppl there that neither me not my FI even know. :/ It will work out for you, though! After meeting everyone and spending a few days together you will all know each other better than you ever would have if it were just a one day local wedding and you will have fun! Good luck!!

I have been going through the same issues. Ive had 10 people who had already reserved and paid money now cancel. Including my brother in law and two nieces who were to be my flower girls. Everyone who canceled were also "on my side" i guess you would say, so now we have 35 guests and only 8 are "my people." At first I did take it personal (even being yelled at by my older sister who said I was too sensitive) but it did hurt my feelings. But honestly I do understand that it is a cost (especially for a family rather than just a couple) to come and we are spending a week there so I also understand about the time off of work so I just moved on!

I am excited to spend the week with such a small group and I think it will be really fun to be able to do so much together rather than just a one night hometown wedding where many say you dont even get to talk to all the guests. And though I am so sad that my nieces wont be there (because i see them like once a year!) I understand and am excited that my sister is still coming and think hey maybe it will be a great break for her and I will get to spend way more time with her since she wont have the kids! And the group is made up of FI's huge family and friends who I have known half my life now (we first started dating in highschool 14 years ago!) so I know itll be crazy and funny and awesome!

Tomorrow is my TA's deadline of reserving (we do have one couple who is waiting until next month, but its just two of them) so i will feel so FREE to be done with getting everyone reserved and dealing with cancellations, etc!!! Im so excited hahaha!

On another note!...Tomorrow will be 3 months exactly till I am getting married!!

.I went to hobby lobby yesterday and scored some fake succulents (which they look fake when they are real so no biggie) so I can DIY boutonnieres for the groomsmen and also bought extra bigger ones to add into the real bouquets for the bridesmaids.  When I first asked the hotel about a bouquet that had garden roses and succlents they quoted me 400.00!!! The "basic" price for the bridesmaid bouquets start at 30.00 so you can imagine I was like WHAT!?!!!!

Succulents and the color peach were two things I really wanted in my wedding so now I feel so much better bringing the fakies! It saves SO much money...105 on the groomsmen alone! And I get the relief of knowing I got them and can move on!

I also got some contents for the welcome bag survival kits at dollar tree...and all the stuff needed to start on my brooch bouquet this weekend.

But couple of questions for you ladies....

Does anyone know where to get cheap meds/first aid kits for the survival kits?

Anyone doing any kind of memorial to a loved one at the wedding? How will you be honoring them?

Anyone here getting married in Punta Cana? I am trying to figure out if I will be able to do a little shopping there for the welcome bags (for water, snacks, etc) before the guests arrive!

You should check out ebay for cheap first aid kits. I got a lot of 24 of them for about a dollar a piece. I had started to get a few at dollar tree but then couldn't find as many as I needed but then haven't been able to find anymore at the stores around me. I actually think I misscounted how many I need and will need to order a few more but at about a buck a piece it's not so bad.

Good Luck!

Wow.. 10 cancel... Very similar situation to us. I do think it will be a nice break for your sister though and you will be able to have more time together, so that's nice! I got a lot of the stuff for my survival kit on minimus.biz. They have tons of great items very cheap! Here is what's in my survival kit: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/84976/my-diy-survival-kit-label-for-oot-bag-with-pics-and-list-of-items-with-price-breakdown#post_1881347 If you check out that thread I included where I got what and how much it all was. Good luck!

Annoyed!  I've been communicating with our WC trying to find out the price for using vases from the florist for our centerpieces. She's come back to me with a quote of $36 which includes the use of rocks, flowers and candles...twice now after explaining that I only want the vases, not the rest of the stuff.

Sometimes communication is so difficult!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
