Hi Ladies, I would love some suggestions on what is ideal to put in a OOT bag. Do you give it to the guests when they get to the resort? love any feedback!
If you do a search for oot bags there are tons of ideas. I haven't started mine yet, but I plan to do the following: Welcome Letter Do Not Disturb Door Hanger Koozie A Wedding Weekend Survival Kit (zip lock bag which includes:) Advil Imodium Emergen-C Packet Aloe Gum Tissue Chapstick Hand sanitizer So far that's it. We want to keep it basic. I may add a little more depending on how many guest we have but I'm trying to keep it reasonable. I think we are just going to use plain old gift bags from the dollar tree (2 for $1) rather than the tote type bags. I think we will have the resort give them out as each guest check-in. I believe it's $4 per bag or we may give them out ourselves if we have a welcome cocktail gathering. Once I start the process, I'll be sure to let u ladies know what I end up doing! ;-)

We are doing something similar and also just doing a cheap-o bag vs a tote. I found the cheapest ones to actually be at Hobby Lobby. They were cheaper than dollar store. One fun thing we are doing is typing up some fun phrases in Spanish since our wedding is in Mexico and printing it on fun paper with our wedding logo, etc. I found a lot of great things at Wal-Mart where they have all the travel toiletries such as sun screen, aloe, cocoa butter lotion. I love the Do Not Disturb door hanger idea! That's great. Our resort is the same- about $4/bag if they hand them out. We are deciding if we want to meet each guest in the lobby as they arrive and personally hand them out. The only issue with this is I don't want to spend my entire vacation in the lobby waiting for guests.... We'll see.

For the OOT bags I saw an idea that i thought was cute...its called an "Oh SHIT! Kit" and its just a DIY little kit that has pepto, pepcid, stomach type medicines...I may change mine to the Oh Crap Kit hah but i thought it was a cute idea!

Also for smaller wedding parties I saw where a bride did a "wedding facebook" and basically she put together a little yearbook with each guests picture and then a small and funny description of who they were. She placed those in the welcome bags so everyone could "get to know each other" by looking through the facebook. I think they were both in techy fields so it was a cute idea!

I think I may get my bags from weddingchicks.com. They have 10$ bags that are really cute and I really want my guests to be able to reuse them again. (Plus im doing one per room rather than per guest so it is cheaper for me, mainly cause I really dont think men will be wanting a LOVE tote :)

I thought about meeting each guest in the lobby but decided against it for that same reason. I'm not sure when people are coming in, but i'm sure they will be different days/times and I don't want to spend my vacation in the lobby either! I will def have to check out Hobby Lobby for the bags! I never thought they'd be cheaper than the dollar store. I'll have to remember to check out Wal-Mart's travel section. For some reason I didn't even think about that. I like the idea of Spanish phrases as well! It'll be a cheap and easy thing to add to the bag. Another easy thing I think I'll add is Cancun Fun Facts.. Just something simple to fill the bag. I'm all about cheap and easy! I found this on the forum somewhere, I just took the facts and copied them onto a Rack Card in Vistaprint. I cannot remember which bride's idea this was, (I should have made notes as to who's ideas I took!):

Awe! I like the "wedding facebook" idea. I just wouldn't have the patience or creativity to do it!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello Everyone!  I think I'm a little behind but I'm haven't freaked out yet.

- Venue is booked (flowers, menus, add-ons, cake I will decide later).  Getting married at El Cid in Mexico.

- I have a photographer I'm interested in.  He's reserved our date already but hasn't put any pressure on a deposit.

- No dress yet.. I have two that I love and I have until next Monday to place the order

- STDs went out last week.  No one has booked but I have seen some interest.

- OOT bags.. I think I should wait to know how many guests before I spend a ton of money.. am I wrong?

- What about invitations??  I'm confused.. wedding in June so when should invitations go out??  Do we include RSVP or info card?  We have a website too but only 10% of our guests have visited so far.

What am I forgetting?? lol

Hey Avborges! I'm confused on when you should send out your invites since you just sent out save the dates 7 months in advance. You probably could have saved some money but skipping the save the dates and just sending the invitations. I send out our save the dates in June of this year and i'm planning on sending invites after the holidays. A lot of brides getting married in June/July have already sent out their invitations. I am including an RSVP card and travel info will be on the back side of the invite. The RSVP card will also list meal choices for our guest to choose. With that said, I know you just sent out the save the dates but I would send out the actual invites by February.

I sent out my STD's about 2 weeks ago.  I'm not too concerned about the invites, but once I get all of the details nailed down such as rehearsal dinner (we're hosting everyone since it's a pretty small group) and menu choices, I'll probably start worrying about them.  I feel like it's more of a formality in terms of the invite and more of a way to get information to everyone about what's going on when.  We will do an RSVP, but the big thing is that we're having a plated dinner and we need to get people's choices before they get out there.  As we talk to people, we're getting a sense of when they can start booking (unfortunately, everyone needs to put down the full flight when they book, not just a deposit, and it's not as easy to get that kind of $ free around the holidays for everyone).

I want to start OOT bags so badly, but I'm holding back until I know how many I'll need.  I don't want to overbuy or have to go back and try to get more.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
