Hey ladies! So my save the dates have arrived! Is it to early to send them out? I'm getting married October 23, 2014. I'm not planning on booking a group package until January or so. Also what are your thought on travel dates. The flights for family/friends from uk are on Monday only, I would prefer everyone arrive the same day so I'd like to have the group rate from Canada go Monday-Monday aswell, however someone once said its unfair to ask guests to travel weekday-weekday as they have to take an extra day off. So should I go Sunday-Sunday from Canada (flights go 7 days a week so I have a choice) or have everyone arrive and leave the same day?
STemple - You are just a day after me! I'm October 22 in Puerto Vallarta. I am struggling right now too with save the dates and invites. I am going to send my save the dates in July or August (still working on designing them and need to get them printed, and I want to complete my website so its ready when they are sent...plus I need to finalize the invite list, which I'm finding is the WORST part!). I'm thinking that since those are going out over a year in advance, we will then do the invites in December with an RSVP deadline for March. I'm still so confused over whats too early, etc.,but hey, I'm a planner! lol I do plan on having an informal "RSVP" section on the website, so that way if people know for sure one way or the other they can use that before the actual response cards are requested. Who knows if people will actually use that though or stick to what they say, so I am not depending on it by any means!

Hahaha silly ipad thought that was all i needed to post! As i was saying! I am getting married about a month before you! I sent out my std's in may, and my invites about about 2 weeks ago. Waaayyyyy sooner than i had planned, but our ta locked in this years prices for us, so we had to get them out fast. I would say sending out your std's has no real timeline......it's just letting people know and the more time you give people to save, the better chance you will have with the being able to come!

Speaking of this, I want to marry in July 2014 and my TA told me to wait to Aug/ Sept to do everything meaning my hotel isn't booked yet which the hotel requires in order to confirm wedding date. I'm having anxiety....should I?

I would say send out a std anyways. That way people know ahead of time and you can update them when you know more facts. We were able to send everything early, because we knew the location and resort right away. I think at the end of the day, you need to do what you want, and what fits into your timelines.

Hello, my date is July 12, 2014 at the Gran Caribe in Cancun.  I started in January the only thing left for us to do is our flights.  We are working with a local travel agent who has taken care of all the arrangements, my guest have the options of paying for their rooms in full or monthly.  They will be able to add their flights to their reservations if they choose.  Flight schedules for next year open up in August.  We have 20 confirmed guest so far and have signed our contract and been assigned a Wedding Consultant at the resort. I don't want to be stressed out with last minute details.  I am also a control freak. LOL

Hi Joyous55! My name should be NERVOUS24/7 lol. Ok so it's not unreal for me to be nervous that our hotel is not booked yet therefore our wedding date isn't either? I just called the resort and the rates are much higher than I thought. :( I'm really so confused at this point. The travel agent is my aunt's best friend so I can't imagine her giving me bad advice but I first reached out to her end of February and I'm wondering if we missed out on an early booking deals. She owns the travel agency so should I just assume she knows what she is doing and wait? Thanks for your help date twin (hopefully!)

Did you decide on a resort?? That sounds like the Barcelo you are talking about. If it is you will be ok. You can actually put your wedding date on hold for 2 months until you book. My wedding date has been "on hold" since March and was worried about the same thing and just received an email that it is still on hold.

If anyone can't manage to get their butts in gear to share your special day on that kind of time frame... Well, maybe they're not the people you should be worried about having by your side. We've been courteous in giving AMPLE notice. The rest is up to them.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that feels that way!!  I don't even feel bad for feeling that way - that made me wonder if I should feel bad - but I don't HAHa

and while I get that I am asking everyone to spend their time and money to be a part of my wedding - I am also asking them to go to St. Lucia - I think that sounds like a nice favor to ask of

people : )

I would like to say that while that was part of my Dad's response he in no way intends on not being there... I think he was just thinking out load when he said it - and when I said "then don't come"  he felt bad for even making the comment.  He is actually VERY excited for my wedding (something my parents never thought I'd do) and for St. Lucia!

Have you gotten good responses from those that you told?  How many people are you inviting?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
