What is your budget for the dress?

Recommended Posts

My budget was $2000. I found "the one", and found out that it was closer to $4000. I ended up finding it for aprox $1800!! :)

I have a pretty dumb question. I'm pretty short, only 5' or 5'1 on a lucky day. If you don't buy a sample dress, do you still have to send it in to get hemmed, or do they make it for your length? I see a lot of dresses with beautiful details at the bottom, but that would be gone by the time alterations are done.

where in alberta do you live that you got alterations for $90?  I live in Calgary and I hate that just hemming your dress looks like it typically runs you $150-200!

My dress was even made to order based on my measurements, and they stated explicitly that the "made to order" doesn't include the hem of the dress...so even if you get a dress made for your measurements...you still have to go and get it hemmed.  I personally think it's just a money grab seeing as how alterations can cost so much!

I went shopping with my mom thinking I would spend about $200 for a dress because I want to have a pair of $1200 Jimmy Choo does. Well, I ended finding a custom dress at Miosa Couture, a local dress maker/designer, including all alterations for $2000. I found knock off Badgley Mischka Ginnie shoes at Off Broadway Shoes for $59. I'm borrowing pearl jewelry and wearing my grandmothers fur stole. I need a "something blue."

I went in without one, just looked at the cheapest dresses I could find at the shops that I liked, but then realized it was worth spending some money for a nice dress

Lol, especially after my FMIL told me to stop being so cheap!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
