Low Carb Diet and Wanting to get into shape Support Thread

Hey!!    Here's my Regime:   I started being extremely strict on July 1 and so far I've lost 13 lb's and am feeling awesome.  I now notice I feel really shitty if I cheat and eat junk or go out for supper and don't follow my plan.

 

First of all, I eat all my carbs before 4pm, and for supper just have protein and veggies.   Second, I eat all my fruit (2 servings/day before supper as well, because of the sugar and subsequently carbs).

 

Example menu:

 

Breakfast - Hard Boiled egg whites (hard boil, and then remove the yolk) - 2 or 3

                 10 Breton Mini crackers with 1 light laughing cow wedge

                 5 OZ fresh strawberries

Snack - 1 Apple

Lunch - 1/2 low carb Pita

            Egg salad made with .3 hard boiled egg whites, 1 tsp half fat hellmans may, 2 tsp Dijon Mustard, and chopped dill pickle, celery and onion  (or I'll do a similar thing with 70G of Tuna packaed in water), or I'll use about 4-5 slices of light deli meat.   

            2 baby cucumbers

 

Snack - celery sticks

Dinner - about 3.5-4 OZ of lean protein - red meat only 1x/week so I eat shrimp, fish, chicken, pork tenderloin, eggs..

             8-10 OZ veggies done different ways, steamed, grilled, roasted..whatever.

 

Sauces I use vinegar and lemons/limes to add flavor, or low sodium broth instead of oils.  I drink TONS of water, and change it up with soda water with lemon or lime, crystal light and diet pop to get through cravings.

One of the best things that ever happened to me (weight-wise) was I found out I was gluten intolerant! I should have known bc I've dealt with stomach aches all my life - just never put it together with wheat... you wouldn't believe what wheat is in (EVERYTHING!). So I cheat on soya sauce etc but have reallly tried to be good lately. What this means is I'm not near as bad as I would normally be. No pizza, pasta, bread....

 Someone asked what to eat:

Breakfast - I alternate between steel cut oats (make on a sunday and have in the fridge for the week) with frozen berries (costco), OR greek yoghurt (0%) also from costco, or eggs/scrambled with veggies (I even do this at work - bring 2 eggs to the office, put in the microwave with spinach or other veg and heat for 1.25 minutes). I can't get organized enough to eat a big breafast in the a.m. so this gets a good breaky in.

 Lunch - leftovers!! whatever veggie/protein you make the night before - make an extra chicken breast and put it on a salad for the next day! Or I make a big soup on the weekends for quick meals during the week. Veggies (everything), veggie or chicken broth (low sodium), lentils etc. Then if I am going out at night with friends - I have a bowl of this before I go so that I'm not starving and tempted at a restuarant!!

Hope this is helpful.....now if I could only stay away from the M&Ms.......... :)

Its going to be back to weight watchers for me!  I lost 30 lbs in 8 months and fiance lost 40.  We took a break during the summer and both gained back around 10lbs.  Crazy how 10lbs can make such a difference, I feel gross and my pants are too tight!  We can focus again for the next 8 months until our wedding to get to our goal weight and to get toned!  Weight Watchers really works, as long as you follow the program and we really did not find it too difficult.  We ate "bad" foods and just accounted for it in our week.  I exercise daily but my fiance hates to work out and he still lost more weight than I did!

 Hey Girls!!.. You def do not have to share pictures if you don't want to!. I do encourage you take them and keep them for yourself so that you can see your progress for yourself. :o) It's what I use to kick my butt in gear, because I can see when I'm progressing and when I'm slacking.

 

Ngrita... LOL... I'll trash talk you if you trash talk me!!.. lol.. I can't seem to be able to stay away from Taco Bell and Reese Pieces.. :o(

Hey Ladies! I'm so excited to join this thread and catch up with all of you! I recently started the 4 Hour Body Slow Carb diet and week one hasn't been too bad! I also wanted to share this new philosophy that I just learned from a woman named Joni Lowe. I interviewed her for my Barefoot Bombshells TV Series and she gives some amazing advice on not only burning some calories, but getting your sexy back!

Hey ladies! So happy to have found this thread! I am getting married in August 2013, and I am looking to lose 10-15 lbs. I My fitness pal app is great!!! I find that when I do keep track of everything I eat/drink/exercise. My problem is those days I get busy, or forget to enter my info, and then it's hard to get in the habit again! I love doing zumba, I belong to a gym, but I actually love doing zumba rush on the xbox kinnect. The calorie counter on the game is way off, but my fitness pal keeps track of it for me. I also just got Jilliam Michaels 30 day shred and six pack in 6 weeks, so I am anxious to give them a try. There are also a ton of free workouts on youtube, I started following TiffanyRotheWorkouts, and if you check her out on facebook, she has a workout schedule for you to follow. As far as my eating, as long as I enter my info in the app, I'm good!
