Can I ask you ladies how far in advance did you all start looking at travel agents and prices? I do not travel often and I'm not sure how this works.  What time are January prices the lowest? Some are saying Spring but when do your guests have to pay by? Also did you include your travel agent info on your invitations or just on your websites?
Depending on the travel agency....we booked w Air Canada Vacations and their pymt timeline was crazy. We all paid deposits last April, and final pymt was due 6 mths prior to departure date, ppl had to fork out the rest a week before Christmas! On the other hand, now we're all paid up, but still..... We only put our travel agent info on our website.

My MC just told them she needed a podium and they gave it to her without us paying for it. I just told Pilar that we were planning on having our own MC, and since we had the DJ anyways we did not need to pay. Maybe if you aren't booking the DJ you have to rent it.

Chantal, if you are interested in selling some of your chair sashes, I'd be interested in 42 of them, or if you want to round it up to 50 or something, I'd definitely be ok with that, since 42 is an awkward # :). If so, maybe we can talk :)

Unfortunately I rented these sashes.. I tried to buy my own sashes and table cloths, but the website I used fell through kind of last minute. They were amazing but unfortunately I have to return them cheesy.gif

It would be such a shame not making use of those flowers after the ceremony, but I was worried they might look silly laying down too.

I was also thinking of re-using the medallions since they're about $85 each! I thought they would look nice on either ends of the head table. And I was going to use the flowers on the ceremony table for the cake table or guestbook table.

A lot of my guests are thinking that it's too early for deposits but I really want to secure the rooms. It makes me feel better to know that other brides were that early too. I just don't want to wait too long and risk the rooms being fully booked.

We booked through Air Transat for our February dates.  We started looking at price about a year out but our TA was very helpful to know what was a great deal and what we should reprice again in the spring.  The difference of January vs April pricing was a few hundreds dollars (average).  We booked in May, guests had 3 months to put down a deposit (so till July) and then our final payment was due late September.  Booking early like that did get us an early booking bonus too ($200 off per person) which was a definite bonus.

Did your TA tell you it was better to wait until spring for better prices? I have asked for quotes from 3 different TA's in my area and they all said that prices for the Mayan don't generally decrease for big groups and that I should book soon to guarantee my rooms are blocked. Not sure if this is all BS because I don't know much about travelling to Mexico.

By the way, is anybody using an outdoor florist? They seem to be much cheaper than the resort prices but I can't find a lot of reviews about them. I remember someone mentioned Flores Riviera Mayan before and I could only find 2 reviews about them. Their flowers look beautiful and reasonably priced. Anyone else find better florists?

Our TA told us that the quotes we were getting in January/February seemed high compared to previous experiences - it was her opinion to wait and re-price in the spring. We took her advice but also understood there was a chance prices might go up or stay the same. It worked for us. Some of the quotes she knew were a good deal b/c special promotions or whatever but for the most part re-pricing worked to our advantage with each resort (probably priced 5-6 resorts).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
