Newbie, Moon Palace 2013

Recommended Posts

Thanks Kristen. I am thrilled to have come across this site, very helpful. Only 7 weeks to go and still sooo much to organise. I am waiting to hear back from Renee and Lily, then got to decide on photo packages. I would very much like the superior but the unexpected cost for lighting, decorations etc is making us think twice. To me the photos are a must but don't want to push the limits! Is anyone else having or had a private reception outdoors at 5pm - 8pm how much lighting is needed? I was hoping to t structures and under table lighting would be enough? Many Thanks.

I would recommend getting a travel agent first- that way she can handle dealing with MP and the bookings and that you are certain that you get the group benefits through the travel agent when everyone books with her...otherwise you will be forced to have to book directly through MP to get the group benefits and that could be an issue down the line when you finally set things up with a travel agent! Just my two sense- this is how I did it and I had no issues what so ever with booking and getting my benefits with 75+ room nights!! :)

Hi ladies, I finally confirmed my wedding for January 2014. Now they say i need to decide on what wedding pacake I want. I think Ive read on here that you cant change any thing about the Colin Cowie collections, is that true? How about adding some of the decor to the free wedding package? I like the exotic peacock but i feel like for me its a bit much, I love the pure but think its silly that it cost so much more because you get three tables, which I dont want. Or I guess there is the option of outside vendors for decorations but That sounds very expensive!

Thanks for any help!

Hi Britt!  I am getting married at Moon Palace January 17th 2014.  What is your date?  I am in the same boat.  I love Pure, but I refuse to pay that much money for a 20 minute ceremony.  I would rather put that money into our reception.  I also LOVE the peacock, but I would want to tone it down. I have decided to the complimentary package and add my own decor.  I have yet to hear if that is a problem.  I'll keep you you posted if I hear differently from wedding/travel coordinator.

Ashley, sounds like we are thinking the exact same thing! I'm just not sure if you want to add decor do you have to bring your own or can you add stuff from the collections? But yes spending that much for a short ceremony seems silly, I'm thinking I will put that money into making the reception way more fun and pretty! I think the wedding date right now is January 27 so we will just miss you.

You are correct- you cannot change the colin cowe packages- you can only add on to them.  That is why most brides choose the complimentary package and add on what they want or bring their own decorations from home.  The scenery is so beautiful the way it is you really don't need that much as far as ceremony decorations go- it takes away from the reason most brides choose Mexico- the beach and the ocean!!! :)

Hello - I originally was all set on the complimentary package and ordered my own decorations such as name cards etc. I was then informed by the resort that the cost would be $100 per table to have someone put them up/on the tables etc! As I needed to book lighting decided that it would actually be cheaper and less hassle to get Lily from Zungia to do it for me. My suitcase will be lighter- more room for shoes!

If you complain to them they will forego these charges- I said that was absurb and they told me it would be $150 for everything- ceremony and reception.  But I'm sure Lily will do a great job- I've only heard good things from Zungia! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
