Susieqt - Congratulations!! So happy everything went perfectly for you.  Could you please provide me with some more information about the bonfire?  We too are planning that (maybe AS our rehearsal?)  and as I'm sure you have already read - its a bit to receive responses from the hotel.  Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated! So excited to get all this planning underway!! :)

Sure. Don't give up on the Hotel, as I said I pretty much went in on Wed before the wedding and told them everything I wanted and It was perfect so save yourself some stress and relax. The Bonfire we had was around $350 and on the beach right next to that pavillion thing (not sure if you have visited). They had a big tray of marshmellows and some sticks. There were three waiters that kept bringing margaritas and beer. Our rehersal dinner ran a little late so I think we started around 9:30 and I went till 11.  There were chairs and beach loungers to sit on as well as cocktail tables. It was the perfect way to relax after our dinner!  Hope that helps but I am happy to answer any other questions you have. This hotel will cater to whatever you need, they are amazing. We got married at the villa and they delivered a beautiful lunch to the wedding party that day at no extra cost.

I have had great response from Alejandro. He often returns my emails in the same day, within the hour! Perhaps because my wedding date is closer? January 24, 2013

He quoted me $350 for the bonfire, but did not provide specific details other than that it included marshmallows. Thanks for the information Susieqt! It sounds like a good deal for $350 if they include some furniture and waiter service!

Does anyone have any information on any other forms of entertainment or the activity schedule that the hotel provides? It would be nice to incorporate some other activities (whether included or for cost like the bonfire) if possible, and I am wanting to create a "schedule of events" card but this is difficult without knowing the hotel's activity schedule! :D

Happy Planning everyone!!

Thank you so much, Susie!  We just got back from there a couple of weeks ago and it is beautiful.  I'm sure everything will come together.

We are trying to schedule some entertainment for the day of the bonfire.  We're also hoping to maybe have some sort of beach BBQ in lieu of a rehearsal dinner, any idea if this is something they can accommodate? Or if the have a way to play music during the bonfire?

Maisie girl,

I am trying to do the same! And you are correct, it proves a little hard with minimal information.  I'll be happy to share anything I can get my hands on ;)

The Hotel offers golf as and activity and there are water skis and canoes available for rent by the Excellence Hotel. We took our guests on the Isla Contoy trip with Kolumbus Tours and it was a highlight for everyone. The boats leave from Puerto Jarez which is about 10 minutes driving from The Beloved. We had rented vans because we scheduled a couple excursions for our group. I am pretty sure that you can arrange transportation with the desk if you decide to do an outside trip. Our wedding lasted many days so we wanted to give our guests a change of pace, but this hotel is so ralaxing and beautiful that it's really not needed. The one thing my guests did say that they wished they would have had more meals at the Lupita Grill.

Sorry I forgot to adress the entertainment. The only entertainment we used was the DJ at the reception and that required renting a generator, but that may have been because we had our wedding at the Villa instead if the Hotel. I have heard that you can get other entertainers and we even ran into a saxaphone player taking a break on the beach a couple years ago and he had played for a couple that was havng dinner on the beach. I know there is a lady named Gabby who is the event planner for the hotel if you want to spend the extra money. I really loved the sound of the beach and the relaxing atmoshere because it gave everyone a chance to get to know each other and catch up. There is music in the Lupita Lounge and it is more of a party atmosphere if you like that.

We did our rehersal in Cancun at Puerto Madero so I am not sure what they offer on the beach. Remeber, it is pretty much always breezy and depending on the time of year it can down pour at the drop of a hat. A dinner on the beach could be hard to move if you need to in a hurry. I saw a dance floor set up that was being used for a reception on the beach by the Isla Grill and it was covered so I guess that is a possibility, but it was just for dancing and not for food. I will say they brought us a lunch over to the Villa and it was awesome, above and beyond , but never as good as the food at the restaraunts. Not sure about your budget but the Owners suites are big enough for a rehersal dinner and would allow for a nice change of pace.

I am pretty sure they offer fitness classes in the spa area. Also the spa is absolutely AMAZING! One of the best massages I have ever had. Any spa treatment you get comes with a special water treatment called aqua viva which was very fun and cool. Its an hour treatment you do before your massage or facial or whatever you are doing and they take you throguh this very cool water circuit with whirpools/showers/steams/etc. i dont think my explanation is doing it justice but i thought it was great. You can also do this aqua viva as a stand alone therapy for i think a very reasonable price, although i cant remember what it was. They also have a discount on spa treatments if you book before you arrive as well as daily discount for specific therapies once you are down there. I highly recommend the spa.

susie, thanks for all the info!!

i'm interested in doing the bonfire, but my wedding is in July.. i dont know when yours was, but I figure it would be too hot to do in the summer.

Also does anyone know if there are a lot of mosquitoes out during summer nights?  Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
