Hi there tiffanylauren! My fiance just recently decided to have our wedding at the Santa Fe in October 2013! This will be our 4th time there so we are really excited! I had a question for you.  I checked through all of the available wedding packages and there was nothing in there about a photographer.  Did the resort provide a photographer for you or did you have to find one yourself? Also, I have to say I looked up your FB and your pictures are AMAZING! Thanks for your help!

were going to be booking our wedding date this month for april 2014 at the riu santafe. We stayed at the santafe a few years back and absolutely love everything about this resort and city so there was no doubt in our minds that we would get married there.

if you need any help with knowing anything about cabo or the resort send me a mesage :)

I am getting married at the Riu Santa Fe on April 16th. I am very interested on any info anyone has. I am interested on how to get ahold of Suzanne Morel for hair and makeup.

I am so sorry that I'm just seeing some of these posts.  They do not provide a photographer in their packages, however they do have someone they recommend.  I have a friend who ended up going to the wedding and take our pictures so that worked out well.   I did my own makeup but I did have a lady in the salon do my hair.  I took a picture I had found and she ended up doing it exactly like the picture. I was very impressed.  I do have a friend who used Susan Morale and she looked gorgeous! I can see how she ended up contacting her but I believe she has a website, you may try that.  Thank you so much for the compliments on my pictures, it was such a great time and I can assure it will be the wedding of all of your dreams!

Hey ladies, Imam new on here and have so many questions! I am getting married at the riu Santa Fe in November 2013. I really want to have a private room for the reception so I can put my own touch into the space. I have not been in contact with a wedding planner there but really want to, how should I go about this?

Hi ladies! I was wondering if anyone has contact info for a photographer that they have used? My wedding is in May 2013 at the Riu Santa Fe and will be having a reception a couple days after we return. We would like to use pictures from the wedding in a slide show at the reception.

I am strongly considering booking our DW at the RIU Santa Fe for February or March of 2014.  Can anyone offer any information on the experiences that they have had w/ the resort and weddings?  Is there a big difference between having a wedding at the Santa Fe vs. the Palace?  The reason I am thinking Santa Fe is it seems like a much better value and I believe more people will be able to come.  How far in advance are you able to pick a wedding date?  Any comments on the beach and pools at the resort, flower options, spa, restaurants, would be greatly appreciated! :)

emk415- I got married there last April and it was the best decision I could have made.  We had about 25 of our friends come along and for your money, it is a great choice.  Everyone had a great time, so much in fact that we are all going back this April ;)   You can go to the RIU Santa Fe website and actually see what dates are available for your wedding.  You are allowed to reserve the wedding date through the website without a charge and will later be contacted by an event planner (not a wedding planner).  The beach is very nice outside of the resort, however you are not allowed to swim in it.  You can get in a put your feet in but the water is very rough.  The best thing to do is take a water taxi (right outside of the resort around 5 bucks a person) to Medano beach which is just a short ride but is fun.  My suggestion would be to request that you and all of your guest be put in building 7.  It is the closest to the beach, pools, and where your wedding will take place.  The resort is HUGE so this wasn't a problem. It is just much easier to communiate with people if you are all trying to plan stuff.  I also recommend putting together little goodie arrival bags with a schedule of when your events take place (rehersal dinner, wedding etc) so that people have them upon arriving.  The staff was great and passed out all of my bags without me being there.  There are 4 pools I believe.  The one that is further from the beach is more relaxing and for families and the ones closest to the beach are "party pools".  Be prepared to have people watch your wedding.  They turned down the music when the ceremony was taking place and everyone up there was very well behaved which I was very happy with.   The resort will give you info on who to get your flowers from and they did an amazing job! I actually got my bridesmaid bouquets through Etsy because they were a litte pricey at the resort, esp for them not to be able to take them home.  I showed the florist a picture of their bouquets and she was able to match the wedding flowers (real ones) perfectly.. she is very reliable and communicates and stays in contact with you... loved her.   The restaurants are good... we had our rehersal dinner just at the main restaurant (Baja California) and had our after wedding dinner at the Steakhouse (it was very good and overlooked the ocean).  I did my own makeup but got my hair done at the spa.  She did a really great job! I took a picture of what I was wanting and she did it exactly the way it looked in the picture.  This is the florist website (if they are still using the same one) .  I acutally had a friend going who does photography on the side so I did not use their photographer.

Golden011- I did not do a private receiption but I do know that you can rent out the disco room (club at the resort)  I believe it is $500 for a DJ and 3 hours of the space.

    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
    • I will be using the hPage Website Builder to create a free website for our wedding. I am planning to post wedding updates, wedding photos, wedding reminders, and wedding articles regarding our upcoming marriage there. For RSVP, I am using Facebook events since almost all we invited have facebook and it would be easier to get their "yes" or "no" confirmation there. In case anyone is interested as well here's their site: hPage Website Builder - https://www.hpage.com
    • Minimalist wedding bands look so classy and timeless regardless of the venue.
    • It's hard to estimate. Some receptions don't need much decorating because it's already beautiful. Some receptions need lots of decorating. Some receptions also come with extra decorating equipment already.
