flower girl and ring bearer?

Recommended Posts

We will be having 1 flower girl and 1 ring bearer (both just turned 4 years old) in our wedding and I'm just wondering what others have done/will have them do.  Not sure if I want the traditional ring pillow and basket with flowers? Ideas?

Thanks everyone!

We only have 3 nieces (3 yr, 2 yr, 12 mo - and all have the some mother/father!!!), so we will have 2 flower girls and 1 ring bearer.  The two older girls will be the flower girls and they will hopefully walk down the aisle on their own - I am hoping the fact that their father will be standing at the end of the aisle as a GM will help.  For the flower girls I bought metal pails at Michaels and will tie starfish to where the handle meets the pail with thin ribbon in one of our wedding colors.  One of the reasons I chose this path is because the metal pails should survive the flight quite well and the starfish can be packed away and tied on once we get to Mexico.

The youngest girl will be the ring bearer and her mother will carry her down the aisle.  Instead of a pillow, she will be holding onto a stuffed animal that looks a bit like our dog (who is beyond loved/spoiled) - the rings will be attached to a collar around the stuffed dogs neck.

I have seen quite a few weddings where the ring bearer pillow has become an object of importance to either the couple or the ring bearer.  Some friends recently had the rings attached to a football for the boy to carry.

My husband and I only have newphews. (Actually, I have a niece who was 7 months old at the time of the wedding. But given her age, her family couldn't come). So we had 2 ring bearers, 4 and 6 years old. Each boy walked down the aisle with adult escorts: the 6 year old with his grandparents and the 4 year old with his mother.

I just had them carry a pillow as they were escorted down the aisle and then sit in the front row with adults that they know very well. (Best man held the rings). The 6 year old is ADHD. And the 4 year old gets easily gets moody, and, consequently, unmanageable. I just didn't want to push either of them.

So I went the boring route =P. I like the idea of the ring bearer/s carring a personal object!

My flowergirl will be carrying a parasol just like my BM's and I think my ringbearer will carry a truck with a ribbon tying the rings on. I've seen it before and its really cute. Personally, I don't like the pillow because they are usually really girly and don't suit a little boy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
