Maya Diseno Floral - Great, AFFORDABLE Florist in Playa/Cancun Area

Recommended Posts

Congratulations!!  We're getting married at the Moon Palace, and I'm considering Marvin, but I've heard from other brides that Palace Resorts will charge you a fee to your hotel bill if you use outside vendors.  I'm worried that even if we meet him outside the hotel and bring the flowers in undetected, the resort will still see the flowers during the ceremony and celebrations, haha.  How did you get around using him as an outside vendor?

ndvidul,

Marvin has been delivering to MP for ages and he reassured me as well that all will be fine.  He meets you or your designated persons in the lobby or at the gate.  Hope this helps

I emailed Marvin, had the time set up and the front desk actually called me at 3pm sharp to say my flowers were here. I sent my husband down to get them and I had 6 pretty large centerpieces and 5 bridesmaid bouquets.  The bell boy actually brought the flowers to my room so I could see them, and then brought them over to the wedding coordinator's office so she could put them out on the table.  When my coordinator asked about my centerpieces in our first meeting when i arrived in Canacun, I acted like I was going to make them myself when the rest of my bridesmaids arrived at the hotel, so I told her from the beginning that I would have them around 3pm the day of the wedding.  There really is no issue at all and Marvin knows what he is doing.

My confidence is rising for using Marvin now, especially since MP employees actually brought the flowers to your room, lol.  Thank you for sharing!

Was $660 the cost for all of your flowers or just your centerpieces?

The name of the florist's company is Maya Diseno Floral and you can email the owner, Marvin, directly. He's extremely responsive and so accommodating. If there's something you want, I can assure you, he'll make it happen. I sent him pics of flowers from a wedding I found online and he recreated the centerpieces for HALF the price that the resort florist charged for the same exact thing.

Every color that I wanted, he made sure to incorporate. I asked if could we tie in turquoise to match the teal of my bridesmaids dresses and he wrapped a beautiful, subtle teal shade ribbon around the stems of the bouquets, so it really tied everything together perfectly. And for 11 centerpieces, we paid $660USD vs. what would have been $1,320 with the internal resort florist. He also made a point of stopping by my room to make sure I was happy with everything and to give me a sneak peak at my bridal bouquet. :) LOVE HIM!

Here's his site: http://mayadisenofloral.com.mx/

And here is Marvin's email address: [email protected]

This guy is well worth a look if you want gorgeous tropical flowers without spending an arm and a leg. He threw in the table runners, votive candles, cake flowers and hair flowers for free too. I'm so glad I found his info somewhere on BDW and I thank whoever did that - so I wanted to be sure to spread the word further!!

Happy to share photos if anyone wants to see his work.

Wow,  Just joined and this was the first link I clicked on!  Love his arrangements and the green toned orchid ones really did something to me.  Am a little in panic mode cause we haven't even started looking and were hoping to get married in Feb/March, but one step at a time... (last minute stay-up-all-night seems to be the future hubby and my specialty!).

Thanks for all the pics, hopefully this was one step ticked off the list!!

Help!

How do you gals even start gathering ideas for your flowers?  I'm trying to put together pics to send Marvin of what we want.  But, I feel a bit clueless on this!

I researched what flowers are available in February in the Northern Hemisphere, and I know our colors (below)... but how do you find pics that are "doable" for your season and for Mexico?  Or did you just find pictures you like, and he can change them as he sees fit for the season/region?

BTW - I know five colors is a lot LOL.  Any ideas would be helpful.  The bridesmaid dresses are teal, and their shoes are silver.  I thought the sandy beige and brown bring in the natural colors of the beach (and are also present in our wedding invites), and I found the teal/darkblue/silver combo from a wedding website and loved it.  Any thoughts in general?  And as far as flowers with these colors?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
