Moni, glad to see you back! It has been a busy summer and hard to check in here often.  You are getting so close to your date too.  What have you decided for ceremony and reception sites?

Katusha, I almost forgot about you!!! I haven't completely settled anything with the La Barcaza since I'm using them for my sunset rehearsal dinner cruise and I wanted to make sure I got everything in order with Now first before them, let me know if you do use them and would love to hear feedback how it worked out! I'm also in contact with 2 other companies for the cruise, it would help to be able to compare them...

JB what are the two other companies?? I'm trying to do the same....  I plan on having the ceremony on the beach & still like the idea of the poolside reception.  The pools look beautiful at night all lit up=).... want to do a cruise too but not 100% on when??? I have a lot of guests coming in the day b4 & I think it may be too much a night before the wedding.  I was considering la barcaza for the reception..... but I feel like it will end up being a lot more $$....What do you think? I think it was between 60-80 pp  I'm trying to plan dinner at the asian restaurant for thurs for 25 guests... fri a welcome cocktail party preferably at the eclipse lounge for ALL my guests......followed by dinner @ the carnival restaurant(not really my first choice, but since we will be having approx 50....they assured that they would sit us all together.... and then early night!  Saturday Wedding day!!  Sunday just Chill.... Monday ~ boat cruise

Hey Ladies!

I just booked our trip to the Now Larimar August 3rd thru the 6th. Yay! Can't wait to check out the hotel and let you all know every bit of information I can take in.  The hotel is charging us $114 pp per night in August and if we book 50 people for our wedding then we get reimbursed for the room for our visit in August. So excited!  We have around 45 people booked now so I am sure we will make it to 50!!

JB I will get that questionairre information sent to you tomorrow!

I have been following this thread for some time because in the beginning I wanted to be a NOW bride, but the rates at the time I was booking were crazy high. Since they have come down but I had already booked my resort which is the Majestic Colonial. I believe you should be able to get a decent rate. My guests are paying 740 per person for 7 nights just for the resort, and that's for the junior suite. If you decide to switch let me know if you have any questions...here is my email [email protected]

I really want my family to get their money's worth, and if the food is awful and it is overrun by locals they will be sorry they came.  I am hoping you are right in that they fix these problems soon. This does not seem to be an issue with the NOW resorts in Mexico.  So frustrating.

Dee, I am so sorry that you have decided to change resorts, but totally understand and may be right behind you.  Did something else happen, or is it just the lack of response on all levels?  Do you have a second choice? Right now I am looking into the Majestic.  I know it will be about $60-80 per night more per person(at least), but may be worth it in the end for peace of mind. Had you actually sent your STD's yet?  I have not checked into my deposit, but since it was only $100 I am not too concerned at this point.  My FI still wants to stick it out...

Moni, here is the info for the marinarium, they have pretty reasonable prices plus if you're not doing it as a reception for your wedding you also have the option to snorkel and stuff

Sadly, problems are underfoot and I may have to push back the trip again. Which I am not pleased about. I'll know more by the beginning of next week. I may be going in September instead. I sooo look forward to hearing your report.

Moni, I'm glad you wrote this, because I completely forgot to discuss the welcome dinner and cocktail party for my guests with the resort. Did you communicate with Claribel regarding this or should I email someone else? Do they charge you anything to book a dinner for 25 ppl or the next day welcome party? I really hope it won't cost us an arm and a leg, since the wedding is already quite costly. Also, I haven't seen any pics of a reception by the poolside, I know some of you ladies say it's beautiful. Do you happen to have any pictures of it? Maybe I'll choose this option too.

Sara, I am so glad you're going there in August. This would be such a help to us all!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
