Newbie - Planning a DW at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton - May 23, 2012

Recommended Posts

Hey Chelsea,

My travel agent initially contacted the resort to book and confirm our date. I know she heard back from the resort right away. We had to fill out a form and leave a deposit to save the date. I have heard that travel agents somewhow have better luck contacting the resort but I'm not sure how that works... are you going through a travel agent at all????

We havent been to the resort ... but from what I hear it is absolutely beautiful! I cant wait!!!!!!!!!

Have you all made a visit to the resort yet? My fiance's parents went this past summer and loved it!

i'm still thinking about it but i will most likely get her to do my make up and hair. My Bridesmaid's said they can do their own.

what i did when i really needed to contact someone, is i just phoned them....i hate the response time. but it would be much easier to get your TA to set the date and such, they can do alot more than you and i can if you need the phone number and managers name, i can give it to you

Hi Ladies,

I'm a future GPLH bride (June 2, 2012).  We've been working with destinationweddings.com to coordinate our travel and it's now time to contact our wedding coordinator on site.  I read in the previous posts that it's kinda tricky and am seeking some advice.  I was planning on just sending our WC an email but I don't know if I should keep it simple and work out the details as we go OR send a long email with all the things we know we want so far (this site has really help me narrow down the details).  Any advice?

I'm trying to keep my expectations low since I know they're on island time but we are also just 6 months away (YAY!)

Thanks for the help and good luck as well!

Hi,

Congrats on your marriage!  I've seen alot of reviews of GPLH saying the service was not good and there were long waits at the restaurants (i.e. over an hour all the time).  If you don't mind, can you share your experience?  I'm getting married at GPLH December 2012.  Many Thanks!

Hello Everyone!!! Thank you all for sharing your experiences! I planning to get married at GPLH in July 2012.  I am trying to determine whether or not I should handle to booking myself or use a travel agent.  Does anyone have any recommendations for travel agencies?  One other question...How do you find information regarding reception prices?  I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi soontobewoolford - I think it's better to use a travel agent or wedding planner. I tried dealing with the resort myself and it can be frustrating. I have gotten much better results with the wedding planner/travel agent. I found the private reception prices to be decent, cheaper than Iberostar for what you get.

Hi ladies!

Hope you're all slowly but surely getting things organized and prepped for your special days!  Jeeeez, time has gone by so quickly.

I'm curious to know if any of you are hiring a DJ and/or MC?  I've read a couple posts that brides have indicated it was a waste of money because by the time you get through the dinner, speeches, etc, there's barely little time left for the DJ to actually play music.  Any thoughts on this?  They've quote me $300/hr.

Are most of you bringing your ipod and docking stations instead?

Thanks,
Tee

Hello everyone

I am a new bride to be... I want to book my wedding at Grand Palladium in Jamaica, and having a hard time reaching anyone. I would like any help I can. My anticipation date for wedding is November 17th, 2012. I've read that it's better to go through a travel agent to communicate with the staff; is that correct? I was assign Nina as my WC, I was given (876) 633-8900 or (876) 633 9900 and was still unsuccessful in reaching my her. Whatever advise recommendations. I am ready for it all...

Matti

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
