ROR vs Gran Bahia Principe vs Iberostar Rose Hall Suites/Beaches

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies,

My fiancee and are planning our wedding for December 2012 and I was originally set on the ROR. I have been reading a lot of bad reviews about it not only as a hotel but as far as their wedding planning. I am starting to wonder if I should choose another hotel. I have done a lot of research on the other hotels and I love the Gran Bahia and Iberostar Beaches and Suites.

If anyone has an input into which resort they recommend that would be so appreciated

Thank you

I am biased as I am getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in jamaica!  We fell in love with the gazebo and the price of the wedding packages, which have recently gone down for 2012 brides.  The wedding planners there have been extremely helpful.  That resort was also recommended to us by our TA and she has been many times and loved it! I guess you just need to make a list of what is important to you and hopefully that will help you narrow down a resort.  Good luck!

Kristy,  I was married last fall (October) at Iberostar Suites and it was amazing.  One of the biggest pluses was that each Iberostar resort only does one wedding a day so you get to be the only bride that day.  It was a great resort, we had a very small wedding (only 9 of us) but everyone made us feel great, even the other guests.

here is a link to my thread for pics (and i HIGHLY recommend Marcia whereever you choose).  I also have a planning thread in that section.

I am getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in August. All of the brides that I have spoken with who have gotten married there, had a great time, loved the resort and said their wedding day went great, and all went very smoothly. Its also very reasonably priced. Good luck making your decision!

Check out the Gran Bahia Thread going on here and it will give you tons of information about the resort and info from brides who have gotten married there.  I am getting married there in July and I would highly recommend it, especially if you are getting married in 2012 as they are reducing the wedding package prices to half of what they are currently charging (max price is $850!).  It is a fabulous resort with great reviews and the gazebo location is to die for! :)  Good luck!

Kristy,

I have been to a wedding at the ROR in 2007 and it was very nice. It was a family wedding or we would have just gone back there to get married ourselves, but we didn't want to get married at the same place as FI's cousin.  We chose the Iberostar Beach after reading many reviews on tripadvisor and asking around to anyone we knew who had been there. The suites pricing from Toronto was looking to be about 1800-2000 all inclusive for the week, so we chose the beach resort, which looks just as nice. There's quite a few good reviews on the beach resort too. I agonized about the resort for about 2 months before we made a decision! And I think we made a good one!

I got married at ROR in Jan 2009 and it was amazing.  The day had a few blunders but I didn't really sweat the small stuff so still had a perfect wedding.  The resort is gorgeous.  It is a very large resort too so if you want to sneak away from guests attending, its really easy to do.

The wedding co-ordinator has changed there though so this might be the reason for the negative reviews.  I would do your research as you want your day to be as flawless as possible.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
