Desperate for Cancun Help! The Royal Cancun has left me with NOTHING! Need WC, Venue, Band, photographer, basically Everything!

Recommended Posts

My wedding coordinator at The Royal Cancun where I'm sending a TON of business (80+ people have already booked and invitations haven't even been sent out) completely dropped the ball.

I went on my site visit back in late October.  After our tour and tasting, we had a ton of questions for our coordinator (Diana who was amazing on site would be our on site coordinator) and we never heard from her.  We didn't hear back from her for 2 months!  Maritza, our "call center" coordinator if you will finally jumped in after I HOUNDED Diana for answers.  She finally got back to me 2 months later with the answers to my questions.  Awesome.

At this point, I wasn't panicked. Maritza was great, and answered all of my questions.  After a ton of back and forth, we had it all finally nailed down. We were getting married June 6th at 5:00 at the chapel, and then we were having our cocktail hour on the Terrace, and then our reception in one of the ballrooms.  We had even picked out menus, etc.  I thought the hard part was done.

Well, last week, i come to find out, that everything she promised HADN'T BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE NOVEMBER!!!!

So now, I can have my wedding outside, but it has to be over, packed up, etc by 10,  or I have to start ALL OVER and find another venue.

At this point, I'd love to hire a WC who can find me a venue, caterer, band, etc. I basically need EVERYTHING at this point for the cocktail reception and reception.

Such a mess.  3 months to go, and it's pretty awesome that I have absolutely nothing!

Any recommendations would be super appreciated.  Venue is the element I'm most concerned with, so please let me know if you've had your wedding in Cancun or been to a wedding in Cancun and loved the venue!

Thanks girls!!!!! Sorry for any typos, just a tad irritated.

Mel

not to burst your bubble but most resorts and beach weddings have a cut off point around 10 pm for outside events.

if you want something later, you may want to look into doing a buyout as someplace like la reve to see if they will allow your party to go on later.

or you may want to see if the royal has an indoor location where you can move your group to continue the party.

yikes!!  sounds like a nightmare.  did you put down a deposit confirming these details??  seems so weird they'd want to decide on so many items only to tell you the options were not available...

it seems you are okay with an indoor ballroom location for the reception, in which case you should have lots of options in Cancun.  During my search, I became a very big fan of Le Meridien (their coordinator is fantastic).  I visited the Hilton and their facilities were really big, clean and nice (didnt meet their coordinator though).  The Westin has the ability to host 2 outdoor weddings at once so that might also be a good option for you (feel is more modern though).

Rather than spend time trying to find a coordinator, I'd try giving hotels a call first (as in, literally call and ask to talk to their coordinators) since they can help get you vendors asap (no risk of another middle man screwing it up).

Good luck!

I just got back from getting married in Cancun and had my wedding at the Cancun Palace and it was fabulous!  The party did end at 10pm because it was on a terrace, but you could always move your "after party" to one of the clubs down the road for more partying.  Most of my guests were tired after 4 straight hours of dancing and then a few hit up the hotel bar afterwards.  With that many people staying at the same resort I did, you would qualify for free private events (meaning free rehearsal dinner, free reception etc) and you would get a 7 night stay for free too.

I hope you find something that works for you and I would be happy to give you more details if you were looking at other options :-)  good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
