This is great ladies! I find a ton of stuff online only to get cushed by shipping so i have to go back to the drawing board! this is helpful :) you ladies rock!

If i can get organised enough to do this and a little bit of luck as well I am going to try to gather everything i need from one or two sites so that even if i have to pay $50 bucks in shipping i have an order significant enough that it still makes sense. hopefully it works out :) i only have or feel like i have 72 million things to buy LOL

I spent an hour this morning shopping on The Knot only to find sadly they don't ship here.  My SIL lives in Cali so I could ship it there, but then she has to ship to me and I will have to pay duty (oh and wedding is in 55 days lol).

Thanks so much for all the links, guess I have to start all my shopping over again!

If you have the time to drive to Buffalo, you can ship to a place in Lewiston, just across the border for $5. Then you could just declare the stuff as you cross the border, they might not make you pay the duty.

I read somewhere about this site:  http://www.bongous.com/   where you pay a small fee ($5) and they give you a US address so you can have stuff shipped from websites that only ship within the US.  Once they receive your goods, they ship it to you and you pay only the exact shipping fees.  Not sure if this will save too much money on shipping in the end, but it does allow you to get those things that you REALLY want from a website that doesn't ship internationally.

I'm thinking of using this because the odd time I find awesome clearance stuff on websites that I would buy in a heartbeat but they don't ship internationally so by using this site and paying the shipping, it might still end up cheaper than buying it here because the clearance price is so low.

Just remember, it's not only the crazy shipping fees. You'll probably get slapped with a customs charge too. I've gotten two customs broker bills in the last month, and even though the actual taxes weren't high, each company (UPS and TNT) charged at least $15 for processing.

KCB2011 - thanks for posting that! I've heard about companies like that but didn't know where to find them.

Mochamakes3 - that's a good point. Customs can be brutal!

It is nice to have the option though, if there's something you REALLY want.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
