HI Summafool

We are getting married at Dreams Palm Beach in Punta Cana hopefully May 4th 2012 ( waiting on confirmed date) . We do not have a photographer yet and I would love to use Photophil as well, but I am not sure if flying someone in is in the budget sad.gif. I also heard of sharing him and the costs, which would make it much easier. Have you worked anything out yet? What date will your wedding be and which resort?

Congrats !!!

We are getting married at Dreams Punta Cana on April 27th 2012...I must of missed the thread about photophil.I got to read up on him.I was thinking of going with hdc.Their prices seem reasonable & I've read good things about them. They want a $200 depositif you want to reserve but don't know which package you want yet.

Hi Summafool, I am VERY interested in using photophil as well I just love his pictures!

My only problem is that I haven't booked a date yet (still trying to choose between resorts as I just got engaged a few days ago) and I read on the Dreams Palm Beach Brides facebook page  that they no longer accept photographers from off the resort. Have you heard anything about this? My two top choices were DPB and the Majestic Elegance, but if DPB doesn't allow outside photographers and the ME costs so much for a private reception, I feel like I almost need to start at the beginning in finding a resort. Any suggestions?

Hi girls!

I am looking at a mid April date, possibly around April 16th or 17th 2012.  I am actually so in love with Phil's work that I would be willing to plan my date around his availabilty.  Word on the forum is that he is down there a lot so it usually works out that he is there when you are needing him.  That does make me nervous about Dreams saying no outside photogs as I am planning on being married at the new NOW Larimar, which is owned by the same company as Dreams.Would he be able to stay as a guest at the resort and take our photos?  If anyone has any confirmation on this new policy I would love to know about it!  Also I would be up for sharing Photophil time! Has anyone tried to contact him for pricing, availability?  I have emailed him a couple times and haven't heard back...

Thanks and congrats to everyone.

Hi Acutie,

Just thought I'd update you, Dreams has scrapped that rule about outside photographers and also lifted the day pass fee they used to charge, so you should be okay if you wanted to use Photophil! I have also not heard back from him, but spoke with someone that worked in his office. Apparently he is out of the office and will respond when he's back. The person said that he will be in the Dominican next year on April 28th (not sure how long before and after), and my wedding is on April 30th so I'm hoping to hear back from him soon! Good luck and let me know if you secure a date!

Ashmagoo,

Thanks for the info! I actually heard back from Phil last night through email.  He was very informative and said that he usually will be in the DR 2 weeks out of every month during high season which includes April and May.  He did say to call him after tomorrow and he will be back in the country to chat about his services.  He seems to think he will be there the last two weeks of April next year! Yeah! Let me know if you hear anything.  Have you booked at a resort yet?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
