Who is the Best Photographer in the Cancun/Riviera Maya Area? PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

We are sorry to hear that you had problems with a Mexico photographer. How nice of Ivan Luckie to try and help you. I think his attitude and professionalism is more common among photographers on the Riviera Maya than that of Mr. Sanchez.

We always ship nicely packaged DVDs to our brides, regardless of where they live. You should not accept your images being delivered to you electronically.

Hopefully, the brides reading this thread will ask questions about the timing and the method of delivery of the photographs from their wedding and TTD sessions.

We recommend Skype calls to all of our couples, which allows them to become acquainted with us.

Michael

We also had suggestions to bring in our own photographer from the US. I am SO happy we hired Claudia of ClaudiaPhoto for our wedding in Cancun at the Ritz-Carlton. Her local touch and talent using the light and beach surroundings simply amazed us. And, we had such a wonderful time getting to know her. The photos she took are hands down, fabulous. Everyone has commented on how amazing they turned out and how much fun we were obviously having during the shoots. The value for our money was perfect for our budget AND she sent us a CD with all of our photos, hi res, for us to print as we like. She is amazing...I can't recommend her talents highly enough.

Hi J,

As a photographer, I'd like to give you a little input for your wedding photographer. There are many photographers who travel for destination weddings. Since you're in CO, I would highly suggest, (unless someone recommends a local photographer to you that is outstanding), that you search out a photographer in your area that does travel for destination weddings. Sometimes it is better to bring a photographer with you to your location. They will be on hand for photos during your entire trip and since you will already have been building a relationship with him or her, the comfort level will and should be there on both sides. Since you see your wedding photographer as the most important part (smart and very nice to hear!) it would make sense that you bring and hire a photographer that you know somewhat already. Just my two cents worth. I'm in the Toronto area myself and also travel for destination weddings. Trust your inner feelings and you will find the perfect photographer to work with you. Congratulations! Sarah

JHANKARLO PHOTOGRAPHY

OUR WEDDING PHOTOS 900+!!!

Jhankarlo was a photographer we met two years ago when we went to visit Mexico to pick a venue. While we were at our resort we saw there was a free photo session and we figured why not weâ€re going to use these photos for our engagement pictures.

From the day we met him, it was an absolute pleasure! He was hilarious and made us feel so comfortable and genuinely an amazing guy. A few months later I got his name (it was a tough spelling) and I found him on facebook. He had at the time left the company that the hotel uses and I just knew I still had to have him regardless. For 2 yrs we stayed in contact on Facebook and a few months before the wedding he gave me a contract and we just went with the flow of things and he couldâ€ve totally flaked and even without a deposit, but he didnâ€t. This is how sincere and genuine this guy is. He made an amazing package for me and the price, OMG, very fair, nothing ridiculous like what most companies charge.

Jhankarlo came with an assistant and she was so sweet! We even met 2 days after at 6am near the hotel (we rented a car, since he doesnâ€t drive) for our Trash the Dress session. It had to be super early because he wanted to catch the sunrise. My photos are beautiful and speak for themselves. Did I mention he does underwater pictures? & has shot for Del Sol before? I loved him so much, Iâ€d fly him over to the states if I ever have a big event again J

Here are a few of our favorites.

My wife and I just used Octavio Montes (info -a- octaviomontes.com) for our wedding. I don't remember where we found him, but it might have actually been this site... He was very good. It was late on a cloudy date with poor lighting, but he and his partner really went nuts circling us with the flash trying to get great shots. I used to be a photo nerd myself and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. He spent maybe a week editing the pictures afterwards and they came out great. There was another wedding in our hotel the next night and their photographer barely moved so I know Octavio must be one of the better ones in the area and his rates were very good. If you need any more info send me a side e-mail: louloizides -a- yah00.

I attached a random pic from the wedding (hopefully my wife won't get too upset that I posted it... :P).

On a side note - the hotel originally tried to get us to use their photographer and threatened to charge us an extra fee if we brought our own. But when I pushed to see the guy's portfolio they gave us a website that looked like it was put together in 20 min using a template and the pictures weren't very good. I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone's cousin. Based on that experience, I would always try to go outside the hotel for a photographer.

Can someone provide just a ballpark estimate for Del Sol just to get somewhat of an idea and to see if the budget allows it. 5k, 6k, 8k?? That would be soooooo great. Photos to me are top priority!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
