Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Recommended Posts

Miss Jali i posted a couple of extra prices a few months ago but if you are getting married in 2014 I would wait cause they change prices every year. Ex-Tiffany chairs used to be 6$ a chair when I first started communicating with the hotel but now they are 12$.

Hello Ladies,

I've been following this thread for nearly a year now, it's been extremely helpful.  THANK YOU to all the brides who've posted pre and post wedding info.  We're having a Catholic ceremony on April 6th at 5pm, which also happens to be my birthday :))  15 days to go, departing on April 3rd, 31 to 35 guests, yes-yes, we're still awaiting on 4 very last minute confirmations....

Strawberry package (it included what we wanted and costs less than the Tangerine package even with the 6 to 10 extra guests)

Canapes and cocktails for our guests while we do our photos (12$ per person)

Set menu dinner with the addition of a shrimp skewer in each plate at the cost of 10$ per plate.  Lobster can also be done, cost 15$ per plate but I was affraid they may not cook it properly.

TropicalPictures Silver Package

Hotel supplied DJ 708$ (3hours)

Will bring my own center pieces, I found what they offer to be too pricey, would rather put the money on upgrading the food and will bring our own wine,10$ per bottle corking fee, they do get you on the extras so be prepared, I'm estimating total cost to be between 7000$ to 8000$ not including oot bags and everything else I'm bringing.

I did visit this past December, met with our WC Lianny, she was extremely kind and knowledgable, took the time to answer our questions and explain things in detail.  She also took us on a tour of the resort that took a couple hours.  Don't panic, if you don't get immediate responses from your WC, they really are busy, this hotel is a wedding factory with 3-4 weddings per day.

If you're looking for an intimate hotel this isn't the place, it's absolutely huge but offers many services and is suitable for all age groups.  It's beautiful, seems that you get the best of both worlds by being in a resort but offers all the wedding services you'd get at home.  I'm in the travel industryand been to several resorts (Cancun, Mayan Riviera, Panama, DR, Cuba, Nassau, Jamaica), at first impression the BBPD has by far surpassed all my expectations, for now... I hope I can still say this after my wedding :)  I promise to let you all know when we get back (Apr 14th).

for your perusal I've attached some centerpiece samples with prices.

Nighty-night ladies!

Hi Julibee!

thanks for you postcheesy.gif

looks like you and I will be there the same time! We are getting married April 8th!

you mentioned bringing your own wine? I'm looking into doing the same thing, are you going to get your wine at the duty free or pick it up at home and put it in you checked baggage? I was planning on the duty free shop but I can't reach them there and am worried about their selection. Any insight??

also question for past brides...

Any thoughts on renting the DJ equipment vs having a DJ?

i would like to have my own playlist and since we are a small group we will likely leave the dancing for the disco after the reception. Just not sure if its worth it. My worry is having someone man the iPod for speeches etc or heaven forbid any technical difficulty with equipment

Hi Newbride101!

LOL that's amazing!!!!  What a coincidence!!!  Then you must also be starting to feel the last minute planning jitters...  When do you get there?

We're purchasing wine on departure at the duty free, less trouble and less weight in our checked luggage. I don't know what your departure airport is but depending on the duty free provider there they may have a website and an email address? Or, you can always contact the airport administration offices and see if they have another number you can try.  (FYI entry limits for wine in the DR is 2L per person.)

I'd definitely go with the IPod if you aren't planning on dancing until disco time.

Let me know how you turn out with getting a duty free contact.

Miss Jalli:

To be clear these prices DO NOT include airfare right? They seem awfully high I would suggest going on the Barcelo website and doing a price comparison.  They offer 25% off for early booking if your looking at rates for 2014. March is peak since its spring break for most colleges and the grade school kids are also off from school so I would expect that your flights and rooms would be a bit higher but these prices seem too high.  On an average you should expect to pay $100 per person per night. The above prices are based on double occupancy but still avaerage close to $181 per person per night for the cheapest room for 5 nights. The transfers are maybe $30 per person so take that away from the price..its still high at $150 per night.

We booked a year in advance for our May 2013 wedding and locked in at $87 pp per night for the basic room. I had guests that booked last week and still got in for $100 pp/per night. Anyway alot more info then you asked for but nonetheless they are high. I would def shop around!

Hi Julibee!

Thanks for the infocheesy.gif

the Duty free was what I had planned initially but I can't reach anyone at the duty free shop ( no website) I don't know what they will carry for selection. I'am also using the wine bottles as table numbers w/personalized labels so it might be easier to get that all ready at home??

As for the allowances for alcohol, how did u find out? I had a look online but everything I read said 1L per person?

We are flying out of Edmonton April 5th.

Supper excited and yes planning jitters too! To top it all off my whole family has the flu including me lol.

I just sent them a request. Also, my mom is calling Barcelo tomorrow and explain that i have at least 35 pple staying in the resort, they have to come correct. If not, I'm directing everyone to cheapcaribbean.com and bookit.com and just watch the prices go down and then book.

Hi Ladies, I'm thinking of switching my wedding here after booking at another resort. I've glanced through most of the forum but still have some questions for you. 1) How do they handle outside vendors? What's their fee? 2) can I bring my own decorations? 3) how long are their weddings? 4) are they sit down or buffet style? 5) who is the photographer they use? 6) Dj they use? Are they fairly responsive? I noticed some of you did site visits. What about them made you feel like this was "the place"? Thank you for your feedback. My wedding is in August and I'm sick to my stomach just having to look for another venue.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
