what did you feel right before you walked down the aisle?

Recommended Posts

OK, well I probably could have used more than one glass of champagne before I walked down the aisle...but for some reason that's all I got.

I was a bundle of nervous energy all morning and afternoon before our ceremony (at 5pm). But, once the hair & make up was done & I had sent my gift and note to my groom...things started to feel pretty good. Once the dress was on I was like "whoa, slow this train down!" I couldn't believe how quickly time was elapsing. Everything was fast forward, yet slow motion at the same time. I know that totally makes no sense, but it does to me wink.gif

When I was standing at the top of the stairs down to the beach with my MOH in front of me & my two soon to be step sons with me, I just felt right. I felt excited and nervous for sure, but overall really stoked that all the planning was finally coming to fruition AND that I actually found THE MAN to marry, and all was right with the world.

I was so nervous the days leading up to the wedding. Those of you who were around when I was planning my wedding know that I am psycho anal planning chick who had to have every detail down to a t for weeks. I had our decor & OOT bags stuff packed for almost 2 months before the wedding!

Anyway, once the wedding day arrived and everything was falling into place I was soooo excited. As others have said, I felt almost giddy while I was getting ready. I was still in organizing mode right up until the end, telling people where to go, making sure everyone was in their right place (I'm terribly bossy!).

But, right before I walked down that long path to the gazebo and the "aisle" I felt this incredible wave of peace and calm and excitement all at the same time. I had this gigantic smile on my face that wouldn't go away (I tried to tone it down because I was afraid I was ruining my pictures). I knew I was in the right place, with the right man, and everything was meant to be.

A couple side notes to my emotions...lol: My dad forgot to walk me down the aisle- he went and was seated with the other guests! My mom had to go get him and tell him to get back to the lobby with me...he was so excited that he forgot! Then, when we got to the end of the aisle, I totally forgot to say something to my dad, or hug him or anything- I just took Jeff's hand and stepped right into the wedding gazebo. I kinda felt bad about that later, but my dad was fine- he knew I was excited!

I also had a momentary panic when I got to the gazebo and saw the full mariachi band instead of the 3 piece I had negotiated for. Here I am, walking down the aisle to my FI thinking "Oh shit...this is going to be expensive...damn Mexicans trying to swindle me!"... When, after all of that worrying, they just wanted to impress me because of the forum and didn't charge me extra :) Ahhh....the silly things I let stress me!

This topic scares me a little. I'm know I'm going to cry because I'm so emotional. Plus my chest turns all red whenever I drink alcohol or have any type of emotions running through my body. My sister and FI have been joking about this for months. I won't be surprised if I'm all blotchy chested in all of my photos.

Just reading all your girls comments makes me a little teary eyed. I wouldn't mind if I could look sexy while doing it, but I'm afraid that's probably not going to happen. I'll just have to hide my chest with the bouquet or FI's head for the photos. lol

My fav shot would have to be tequila - Patron's always a good bet!
As I respond 5 years later....

I love Patron too! It's my fave...seriously one shot of that and I'm all set... friday.gif

anyway, I felt giddy/nervous while I was waiting in the back of the church. Just like I wanted or needed to be doing something - totally couldn't sit still. Sooooo needed a drink! lol! But is was fun.

Right before I was going to walk down, all the BM's were lined up in front of me, I could see through the doors into the church where all our friends and family were and I could see the pastor who was doing our ceremony and it's like right then I really realized what was happening. All my emotions came up to the surface and I started to get super emotional...almost sort of breath and on the verge of tears. One of my BM"s saw that and turned all girly on me, "Awwww!! Omg - you're getting married!!! Right now! This is totally it..." on and on. Soooo not helping! lol! I was trying so hard not to cry! Then all the girls started walking down the aisle. I calmed down a little but was still pretty unsteady.

Then, about 30 seconds before I was supposed to walk into the church, a friend of my DH's was sneaking out the back door of the sanctuary 'cause her little girl was apparently being too loud. (honestly, she didn't seem loud or rowdy to me, I think her mom was just nervous she'd say or do something totally random right when I was walking in! Kinda funny) Anyway, the point to that is that the little girl (about 3 years old) saw me, got the biggest smile on her face and tried to hand me the stuffed toy monkey she was carrying around! lol! It was SO cute! She was just being so happy - and generous, apparently! - that it put the most enormous smile on my face and totally calmed me down. Then we had to walk into the church and I swear, the instant I set foot in that room the biggest wave of peace just swept over me. I felt so calm and happy and just real...like myself. it was awesome. I remember even seeing a friend in the crowd as I was walking up, thinking her dress was gorgeous and totally telling her it was great...right then! No matter that there are 150 people staring at me and I'm practically leaning over my dad to say it! lol!! she totally cracked up and I went back to being happy and getting married.

So that was long...sorry! But it was kinda' fun to remember all those feelings! Ooh! The other really fun part was seeing David at the end of the aisle - he was totally teary-eyed the whole time. It was so sweet! love.gif

I'am the EXACT same way.. I was so nervous from the second we got engaged to the moment before we walked down the aisle that I would break out in red bloches...

So, Cain and I weren't into the "don't see each other before you walk down the asile" We actually had a couples massage the morning of our wedding, then walked the beach until we parted ways to get ready at our different rooms. I was SO relaxed after the massage and walk, it was totally perfect for us. I think I was most excited when Juan showed up in my room about 15 minutes before I was to meet Cain for some before ceremony pictures, because that mean't the moment finally was here to be married. I kept remembering to breath in and relax.. I was soooo excited to see Cain.. I met him in the lobby area at the Sheraton, Juan had me stand back while he got ready to shoot our first sight of each other.. That's when I was the most excited, ha ha I even have a picture of when I asked Cain if my chest was red and was so happy to find out it wasn't (I was so scared I would ruin our pictures) From that moment on, I felt like I was dreaming, I couldn't believe it was actually happening. I was married before and my first marriage wasn't anything like what I felt this time, this was real and forever lasting... When we finally got ready to walk down the aisle together, we were both smiling and making jokes to each othe, it was perfect..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
