So I plan to have steel pan/drum playing before the ceremony begins, for the processional and for the cocktail hour.  My cousin is actually a part of a steel pan orchestra that plays in Brooklyn, do you think I should ask her to play at my wedding? I will pay her of course, that is not the problem... It's just that I didn't intend to invite her.  But since she is my cousin, she will be more than a vendor and thus, will have to be invited to the wedding as well.  Once I invite her, a lot of other family members who will not and who are not invited are going to begin to compare the fact that she was and they weren't.

What do you ladies think? Do you think I should ask her and give her the money since she is family? Or should I just go out and find someone else?

I would hire someone else to do it... no need to cause more family grief!

I personally wouldnt ask her to do it if you are already thinking about how other people will be expected to be invited if she comes.  It would definately be less stress on your part to find an outside vendor x

I would hire someone else simply to eliminate all the potential drama the situation could cause. No need to give yourself a headache over this ;)

I agree you should probably avoid all the drama by just using someone else. There are quite a few pan groups in and around Brooklyn....there is one a block from my cousin's house in brooklyn. GL!

I agree with the other ladies, if it is going to cause drama with other family members, it's not worth it.

Did you decide what you're going to do?
