Hi-

I am new the forum and need some advice! My fiance and I are planning on getting married January 15, 2011 somewhere in the Caribbean OR the Seychelles or the Maldivessmile35.gif. We are wanting to rent a villa (we are having a small destination wedding and a 2nd reception back in California when we return).

I need suggestions as to what people think are the more exclusive and secluded islands (Anguilla, etc.), I would also love to hear stories/suggestions/ideas/destination wedding planner recs as well!

Thanks so much!!!!

Lindsay

Welcome to the forum and Happy Planning!

Parrot Cay is a small exclusive island in the Turks and Caicos, only accessed by a private boat (provided by the island) from Providenciales (about a 25 minute boat ride). You can rent villas (many of them are owned by the rich and famous). Or you can stay at the boutique resort which additionally caters to the villas. (this was where Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married)

Here is a link to a recent wedding at one of the villas in Parrot Cay to see the setting:

Amanyara is another exclusive resort on the island of Providenciales. Like Parrot Cay it is private and very exclusive. We get many of the rich and famous at both of the resorts. You can stay in a room, small villa or up to a 4 villa area with it's own pool and wait staff

An idea of Amanyara resort:

We're not as far south as Anguilla, but we find January is still full of tourists! During the horrible cold snap this past February in the US, I think we got to the low 70's in the evenings with 80-85 during the day (possibly higher).

Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
