El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the info!

Everyone that can make the trip down there decided to stay at EDR to be able to spend a few days with everyone all together, so it ended up working out anyways!

Even though we were initially told that people would have to pay to come onto the resort for our wedding and reception dinner, we were then told that since we were paying for the food at the reception, they wouldn't have to pay the entrance fee. It's something worth asking about! It makes sense if you think about it - obviously they want to charge you to go into an all inclusive if there's a "free" wedding reception because they assume that you're going to be eating their food and drinking their booze (not to mention using the facilities). But you should point out that if you are paying for a rehearsal dinner/wedding reception and you are counting that person into your guest list and paying for them, then why should they have to pay twice?

Good luck w this! Can't hurt to ask =)

Just out of curiosity, what does everyone's dress look like?!

Did you go for a beachy-wedding dress or something different?

When I went dress shopping and told the stores I was getting married on the beach, they all pushed me towards flowey, beachy dresses, which was initially what I thought I wanted, but I just didnt feel like a bride in them once I tried them on.

I ended up getting the Sottero Midgley Adorae dress and I couldnt be happier with my decision! While it isn't the traditional beach wedding attire and I know I am going to be very warm (at least our reception is in doors), I knew it was THE DRESS for our big day!

For anyone who has been to the resort before - I'm wondering if you get wifi/wireless internet service one your cell phones around the resort. I know you can pay to have it in your room, but I would want it on my phone when I am by the pool. I always use Pandora (does everyone know what that is?) to listen to music on my phone, which requires there to be some kind of wireless internet service around. I want to bring an ipod hookup for beside the pool, and I'm wondering if I have to actually purchase and download all of the songs I want to an ipod before I go, or if maybe that's not necessary because I can just get Pandora and listen to all of the music I want for free. If anyone has an idea, let me know. Thank you!!

Yeah, I tried on a couple of "typical" destination wedding dresses. One made me look prego, and the other wasn't bad, but it just didn't make me feel like a bride. I wanted something lace or with ruffles, but didn't want to look like a cupcake.

I got Sophia Tolli's Xandra dress: http://www.topbridaldress.com/product.php?productid=41535 (knock off dress site, but has the best pics I've found of the dress). It's probably a little much for a beach wedding, but who cares. It's my dress, my day. And I'm going to bling out the jewelry too. I really wanted a blingy headband, and that didn't work well with the low key necklace I was working on. So I'm going all-in with the bling!

here's the jewelry I want: http://www.etsy.com/listing/60801184/sale-bridal-rhinestone-crystal-headband (headband, necklace and bracelet)

I think I'm going to do starfish studs as my earrings.

the shoes are where I'm still hunting. I want teal or aqua shoes, preferably a wedge or a mary jane with a 2-3" heel. I need the extra height! I'm hoping I find something when the spring sandals come out in the next couple of months.

yes, I'm an obsessive planner.

I am heading down on Saturday, I will try and see if there is Wifi around...and/or how much it costs.

Love this dress. I also had turquoise shoes... which took me forever to find. Not sure if it is quite what you want but was in a Nine West store and they had teal shoes.

AllieH- great dress! I felt that with a lot of the beachy dresses I was trying on, it either look like I was hiding a bun in the oven or they felt like glamorous white dresses that one would wear to the Oscars haha I just bought a jeweled head band and it arrived yesterday, but I just dont know if its the look I have in my mind so I may return it.

I was thinking maybe going for a more low key sparkle in my hair something barrette like http://www.projectwedding.com/photo/browse?photo_to_show=246605&tag=hair&thumbs_page=12 OR some sparkly bobby pin things.

My FI LOVES when I wear headbands so I really want to find one that I like, but I think they one I ordered maybe sits up a little too high on my head and seems more tiara-like.

I went there in September of 2010 and there was zero cell service, unless you wanted to purchase an international plan from your service provider. My dad did this for work reasons and he made all his calls very brief and to the point, so I cant imagine that streaming internet radio will be very cheap. I know the casitas side of the resort has internet access and wifi but I believe they give each room a specific pass code to access it and from what some of my relatives said, the internet was EXTREMELY slow.

I would count on downloading everything before you go down there.

So... today was not a good day for me. I was at work, not busy and all these things came racing through my head about the wedding. I started having anxiety and just kept thinking about all this planning. I am nearly three months away and I have so much to do! My biggest problem is I can never make a decision. I can't even decide what earrings to buy! I am in so much trouble!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
