Hi there and Congratulations,

Does it count that I'm an ex-pat New Yorker now residing in London?  Our wedding date is set for April 21, 2012 in Montego Bay, Jamaica!  This is such a great post!  Congratulations on you upcoming nuptials.  I'm so overwhelmed  already as to all the preparations for two sets of guestlists - NY & UK so these post are really helpful.  We were thinking of using Thomson (?) Cook also but as I have guests from both the US and UK I'm not sure if that's feasible for both sets.  I may have to have 2 sets of everything.  Already 3 sets of registries (John Lewis for the Londoners & Williams-Sonoma/Crate & Barrel for the NYers). I've been looking at wedding cake vendors lately, and so far I've only found 2 that I remotely like.  I think I may have to arrange for shipping (very scary) the cake from NYC. So much to do and so much to plan.

Good luck on your plans and any helpful tips I can supply in my search I'll be sure to clue you in.

All my best,

Natalie

Congratulations on your engagement MrsSoonToBeG.  Dont panic  - you will find everything you need to know about weddings on this very sight.  I am also an expat (Kiwi living in London) so I understand how difficult it is sometimes.  I am desperate to find one of these holy grail hobby craft shops these girls always mention!  The lovely ladies on here  will give you so much help and you'll pick up loads of cracking ideas.

Re: Your right girlies - I do love it so Im just gonna wait until I have my next dress fitting.  Too many other things to worry about now - like trying to find a backless bustier for these DD bazookas!

Hope you all have a fandabydozi time at your fittings!  I bet you must all be so so xcited!

Hey Natalie, welcome along, the more the merrier :-) I love the fact we have a few 2012 girls now, my reason for staying here after our wedding :-) xox

I remember this time last year and we were the 2011 girls and it seemed like forever away and now its right on top us!!!

On another note : We have changed the date of our AHR.. instead of June 25th we have brought it forward a month as 1 too many factors were just in the way for June:

1.) Annan has a pipeband tournement every year (which we forgot) and most accommodation was booked, pipers come from all over to play!!

2.) Its was nearly 6 weeks after we get married

3.) A few IMPORTANT family members couldnt make it

We get back from Mexico on 16th May and we are now having the AHR on the Sat after we get back May 21st :-)

But it feels right to have changed it so were happy!! Good job invites hadnt gone out.

I wanted to make my own invites but i have cheated with these as i have ordered 100 from ebay for £20 inc postage, they are white with silver writing, i will just put a bit of aqua ribbon on them :-) I usually love doing my own stuff but to be honest i CBA!!!!!

xox

Hi everyone!

I got engaged a couple of weeks back and my FI and I are planning to get married at the Sol Rio de Luna y Mares in Guardalavaca, Cuba, in June 2012. We've been to this resort last year and really loved it. We'll be having a small wedding with about 16 people all in.

Oh and we are from Scotland! :)

The main thing I'm worried about at the moment is a photographer. I know the resort photographers aren't that great so not too sure what to do!!!

Now that I have said hello and introduced myself, I shall go back through this thread and have a read up and hopefully get to know everyone!!

Wow Nicy that is even sooner then! When you are partying at your AHR i will be packing to go to Mexico :o) seems only like yesterday we were waiting to book, the time is flying... i will feel so sad when its all over. Been on such a journey on here :o)

I know what you mean with the DIY stuff. I am well and truely DIY'd out. lol. NO more for me now. I'm done. Pretty much everything is sorted for the wedding now so just gonna concentrate on the build up to the holiday (which we paid off yesterday and paid off the wedding package). The only thing i will need now is Thank you cards and i think i am just going to buy some and write them out.

Welcome Ashley nice to have you join us. So many nice girls on here i'm sure you will find the site so useful and not only that its a great place to come and chat and let off steam. Fingers x'd you dont have any problems with your planning but most of us have and we help each other through it. I think i top the list for top whinger hee hee ;o) Definately two of the hardest things were chosing a hotel and the photographer. Research will get you there and you may even find one through this site :o)

I am SO tired today. Scarlett is going through a NOT sleeping stage and its doing me in. A bit ratty today. Going out tonight with the girls and have a feeling i'm going to get wasted ha ha. Let my hair down time :o)

Have any of you girls had ppl ask you 'why your getting married in Mexico'? (or other countries)... So many ppl have asked us and its now getting on my nerves. Its the same with them all.... "why are you getting married in Mexico, have you been there before?" my answer is "no but we know ppl that have and only heard wonderful things about it".. then they look at you like your a freak.... honestly though girls most of my friends that have got married over here have never been to the place they got married before, never stepped in the venue they said their vows and had no meaning to them.. so whats the difference in us going abroad to get married? Its our choice... if we got married over here it would have been Cooling Castle but only cos we've been there once before and liked it. It has no other meaning to us!

End of saturday morning rant! Have a good day girls :o) xxx

Yeah, its so close now... both the wedding and the AHR, I was thinking about that yesterday about the journey we have had... it really will be sad to see it all end.... im scared in a way!!! :-(

Arrrr, poor you, not sleeping nothing worse!!! Scarlett will be fresh as a daisy no doubt!! LOL, Kids, you just gota love em x

Yeah, we always get asked "Why Mexico?" and i just say "Why Not Mexico?" "Its where we want to get married.... Simple"  :-)

but yes it drives me mad!!!

And when ppl say "Why if youve never been before" i respond like you... ppl have said its lovely and ive never heard a bad word..... then i say how special it will be for us in a place where we have ALWAYS wanted to go and the first time we do were going to get married!! Perfect :-)

We have never even discussed getting married over here and wouldnt have a single clue where we would choose... no idea at all, we wouldnt do it in a church as neither of us are religious and i think it would be wrong for us to ever get married in a church..... thinking of it now.... i would prob do a posh hotel.... but like you it would have no meaning so why bother!!!! haha!!! x

lol, its funny isn't it. A girl (not really a friend but someone within our group of friends) said to me "why Mexico then" so i said what i normally do... and she was like 'oh right' looking at me odd. She got married in Oct 2010 at Turkey Mill in Maidstone... so i said to her " why did you get married at Turkey Mill? Been there before? special meaning to you? her answer.... NO!!! and she just looked at me stumped!! Exactly i thought!! ;o)

Why look at me funny? Does it matter where in the world we get married? HELL NO, each to their own! Prob just jealous, stuck up cow!! ha ha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
