I am also a June 11th bride!  I have my dress already also, what dress did you choose?

All of my vendors have been recommended by the resort except for my photographer, I am sneaking him in with a day pass :)

I am still compiling my bags, but they will have chapstick, sunscreen, key holders, small first aid kits, playing cards and whatever else I can find.

Aww its nice you have a date twin :o) anyone else the 1st like me????

I have gone with a big dress. Wasn't the plan but when i see it and tried it on i knew it was 'the one'...

I'm also doing the gift bags and so far have, personalized pen, note pad, antibac gel, gel spots, resolve (for the morning after the night before ;o) insect bite cream, stain wipes, bottle stopper (for the cheaky bottle opened in the rooms ha ha) lip balm and that's it for now. Was going to get some personalized playing cards but it seems you can only get a minimum amount of around 20 and i only need 8. :o(

I thought I'd share my list of what I have done and what I still need to do! I hope others will share too (so I can see if I'm on the right track!). We are getting married June 11 2011 at the Barcelo Riviera Maya Palace resort.

What I've done:

Bought my dress!!

Bought the wedding bands

Ordered all my OOT bags (free from vistaprint)

Decided on, purchased, and am working on hand painting my fan favors (will be given out at the ceremony)

Sent out invites

Picked menu, reception location, ceremony location

Booked photographers (bringing from Kelowna)

Still need to do:

Possibly get his wedding band engraved

Dress fittings (waiting til I lose more weight!)

Purchase bridesmaid dresses

Choose ceremony script

Choose wedding songs

Order chair sashes (apparently my resort doesn`t have aqua or turquoise!)

Send out pre travel brochure

Figure out how the documentation works for a legal ceremony

Get PADI certified!

Finish ordering OOT bag contents (I should actually stop soon!)

Figure out groomsmen and groom attire

Figure out centerpieces

Lose 10 lbs! Lol.

Hunt people down and pressure them to book!! (Lol just kidding....sort of...)

I only have 8 bags to make too!  I bought a lot ahead of time, thinking I'd have more people, so I was lucky to be able to take quite a bit back.

Here's my list!!

What's Done?

- My dress!  My first fitting will most likely be in February

- My jewelry and underwear

- My shoes (although I am thinking about changing them)

- BM dresses (having a very hard time deciding on shoes -- orange and white tiger lilies for the flowers and aqua colored dress...suggestions welcome!)  :o) Are orange heels to bold!?

- Groomsmen outfits

- BM gifts

- Mother's gifts

- Father's gift

- OOT Bags and most of their contents (still looking for cheap spanish for dummies books!?)

- Wedding day schedule/spa appointments

- Morning fishing trip booked for groomsmen/fathers

- Wedding rings (mine still needs sized)

- Toasting flutes

- Photo guestbook

- Photographer (Octavio Montes)

- Wedding resort extras (harpist for the ceremony, horse and carriage entrance, videographer)

- Reception location

- Hair/makeup by sister-in-law

- AHR location, DJ, cake baker, and photographer

Still to do:

- something old, something borrowed!?! (I have no idea what to do for this...I have the new and the blue)

- Groomsmen gifts (we are trying to find those flask fliplops!)

- Garter

- Groom's linen suit

- Flowers (all DIY)

- AHR invites

- Destination favors (thinking about finding a bakery in Mexico to get Mexican Wedding Cookies)

- DIY Fan Program

- Order chair sashes

- Decide about a sand ceremony

- DIY place cards (for both destination and AHR)

- AHR decor (vases and most flowers bought)

Wow...that actually helped a lot! :o)  I'm sure I forgot some things...but this looks like pretty much it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
