November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

Recommended Posts

Only 98 for me!!  Time is flying....just like everyone said it would.

We have to figure out and order the GM attire, place the order for the BM dresses (just took measurements the other day), make playlists and CD, decide on wedding bands (looked but indecisive), exchange and order new OOT bags, purchase items for OOT bag (waiting on head count), finish DIY projects, order sashes and possibly table runners and finish getting centerpiece items.

I've probably said this a few times but I just hate that so many of the things I still need to do rely on the number of guests coming and that number is still such a guess that I am afraid to do anything.  Our RSVP date is next week but I know people might still back out or decide to come after that.  Its a bit frustrating.

98 days for me tooooo!  EEEE!  Getting so excited but it is really starting to fly by.  My shower is next weekend - so excited.  Everything is pretty much done except escort cards/table (we're doing message in a bottle theme DIY) and finally started really shopping for OOT bag items.  Target had a big sale on travel size Advil and tissue so I got all that.  Everyone's attire is figured out - just need to get alternations.  Still have to go ring shopping.   The countdown is really on!

I know...It's so strange...everyone you think going ends up bailing and vice versa. You just never know, people will bail until the last minute. I realize it's best to buy things from places that have a 90 day return policy unless things are dirt cheap like ebay. I have been using ebay, amazon, and ofcourse hobby lobby, michael's and joann's fabric store. BangHead.gif I am at 104 days...yahhhh almost to 100...are most of you getting legally married in the states? It seems like a hard decision for me...I would hate to experience a delay in receiving my certified marriage certificate. What are most you you November brides doing? I am in the decision phase...so hard because I want Jamaica to be the first time, but so uncertain right now..decisions, decisions undecided.gif

We are doing what we call the "paperwork" beforehand to get it out of the way.  We will do what is needed but no rings, no kiss, no celebration...nothing.  We just see it as getting the paperwork we need to get married in Mexico.  I don't think it matters which one you decide.  The date you get married is the one down in a beautiful paradise with all your friends and family.

We are definitely getting legally married in the US - I just don't want any hassle with the marriage certificate.  Originally I just wanted to do the courthouse - to make it less of a big deal so the emphasis will be on the Mexico wedding.  However, my fiance wanted our dog to be there so now we are having a weekend outdoor ceremony and we have to pay an officiant.  That blossomed into inviting immediate family that lives nearby and that blossomed into a dinner afterwards.  Oh well.

We've decided to legally get married here before we go.  I was really really torn... and still not 100%.  But I want our wedding in Mexico to be IT for us, and I don't want to come home and then do a legal ceremony.  I want to feel 100% married once we have the ceremony in Mexico.  But, I also don't want the ceremony in Mexico to feel "not real".  So, we're going to the courthouse about a week before we leave for Mexico... no family, no kiss, no rings, not even saying "i do".  Just saying "yes" hahah.  I'm wearing a white dress to my shower and will wear that to the courthouse.  So far, no one has asked about it being legal and we just want to keep it us.  We'll do a fancy dinner just me and him after the courthouse :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
