You might not be able to avoid baggage fees much longer by simply carrying your bag onto the plane.

Discount airline Spirit Airlines has unveiled new baggage rules that include steep fees for carry-on bags.

Any ticket purchased, starting today, for travel in August and beyond, requires that you pay $45 for a carry-on item if you wait to pay at the gate. The fee is as low as $20 if you pay on-line for the carry-on bag.

The dimensions quoted on the carrier's Web site for a carry-on bag are 22x18x10".

Spirit has several flights between New York's LaGuardia Airport and cities in Florida.

The rules still allow one personal item to be carried on the plane free-of-charge. That item much fit under the seat and be no larger than 16x14x12".

Items like cameras, diaper bags, coats and strollers will not be counted as personal items and can be brought onto the plane for free.

Might as well buy a seat for luggage with these folks. I had a bad experience with them and they lost my daughters car seat on the way to Jamaica...and it was checked at the gate!! I have no love for this no frills air line.

That is insane! I flew the once to JA, and we just had to pay $15 or $20 for our checked bags. I guess that's how their gonna make their money though. Our flight was $9 plus taxes, they can't afford to run an airline like that for long.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
