SO SO SO special

My mother past away years ago and I have her ringn which I wear everyday with 2 silver bands on either side, then I have her mother's (my nan's) engagement ring as well as I'm going to borrow my OTHER grandmother's engagement ring to wear on my wedding day.

I've been trying to figure out what to use for my "something old" for a while now.. I guess my mom emailed my grandma last night asking her because she was coming down to visit for the weekend. So my grandma showed up at my parents' house the same time as me for lunch today with a little box filled of old things that I can pick from.

SO, providing the jeweller can clean and resize it in the next week and a half, my something old will be a ring ... 10K gold with 3 stones which look like 2 diamons and a sapphire in the middle.  My grandma isn't 100% sure if the stones are real though, but no matter.. they'll look awesome when it's cleaned.  The cool thing is that the ring belonged to my GREAT-GREAT-Grandmother!!! My grandmother's dad's mother.

How cool is that?!

My grandma's words "I can only hope that you'll continue to wear it after your wedding day".

I really hope the jeweller can get it fixed up for me in time! :)

Meggers, I'm thinking that's what I'll use my Monday for too!

Laura, that is awesome!  I really want to have my something old as some sort of jewelry from my grandmother who passed away almost four years ago.  I'm going to try to find something this weekend at my parents, which is where half of my belongings still seem to be!

That will be neat to have both of your grandmother's engagement rings

Good luck on finding something!!

my mom also told me at lunch that I can have her grandmother's wedding band (which my mom wears) to put in between my wedding band an engagement ring since they don't match up perfectly.  i'm considering it, but i know my mom really like's wearing it so i might tell her to wait on that one.

Okay...so I have to share, I had my first melt down today on my way home from the seamstress...  As I think everyone knows, I was worried about my fitting today because of previous problems with the seamstress.  Well, there was a reason to be worried...  when I tried my dress on this morning it went on great, the work I've been doing to lose weight has paid off!  It fits so nicely, I just love it!  Then I looked down and found that when she took the 8 inches off to shorten it, she made one side shorter than the other.  When I mentioned it, she tried to tell me that no, I was just leaning to one side.  So, that was her first mistake..  I insisted that it was uneven and she finally made the comment that yes, she must have done something wrong with the darts she put in to fix the dress.  I think the scariest thing was when I saw her go at my dress with scissors....

Anyway, she said she could fix that and then still had 2 hours worth of work left to put back beading that had fallen off...  Now, my dress was supposed to be done today.  I was supposed to be able to bring it home...  Well, I did bring it home.  As I was taking the dress off with the help of my MOH, she asked what I was going to do.  I told her that I was going to tell the lady that she was no longer going to be working on my dress, that I wasn't happy, and I would pay her for what she'd done and find someone else to fix it.  So, that's what we did....  I paid her (way too much money) and left with my MOH and one BM that had come with us.

I was just so upset with the whole situation....  As we were driving back home, I just lost it, and burst into tears because I was so upset...  Now I have to call this other lady who fixed my MOH and BM's dresses, to have her fix the mistakes this other lady make....

Ok, thank you for that vent...

Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear about your seamstress stress, that is totally unacceptable. And to try and blame you for standing at an angle? WTF? I would highly recommend leaving a negative review for her on Yelp or something like that so other brides don't have to experience that. Good luck with the next seamstress, since she was able to fix your other dresses, I'm sure she'll find a way to fix yours and you won't even be able to tell that there was ever an issue. Meggers, I totally hear you. My shoot is on Friday and I'm totally nervous. Just get as much sleep as possible this weekend and start pounding Emergen-C, take some zinc lozenges, and tons of echinacea tea and you should be fine. Some homemade chicken soup wouldn't hurt either.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
